Do you have time warner? They told me they do not offer a cable box with and HDMI connection. The dvr is available with it but again they dont offer the cords needed for this.

While the Samsung and Toshiba players are big (or even HUGE), that's mostly due to the hardware necessary to decode HD streams AFAIK. The 360 will be decoding the HD streams here. The external drive should basically be just the drive IIRC.

I think there is Blu-ray PC drive that is about the same size as DVD drives (has to be if in order to fit PC standards of course).

Looks as big as a big Yellow Pages. Damn!

I just got a great deal on the thing, and didn't want to be caught wishing I had a 1080p next year, after shelling out the bucks for the display. Honestly, I don't know if there is a huge difference in picture quality, as far as connections go, but being able to upconvert DVDs is awesome. They really look better with those extra pixels. I can certainly imagine having twice the definition would be pretty cool.

you just have to buy a cable yourself, that's all

both the HD DVR box and the HD non-DVR box have DVI outputs on them. all you need is a standard DVI-HDMI cable to hook it up to your HDTV

I have T/W in Austin with a HD-DVR, and it has HDMI. You just have to ask them for it. They'll either say they're temporarily out of them, which could happen, or they'll trade for your current setbox. It was easy. I love watching Entourage in HD! There's a huge difference in picture quality. Heck, you can see it just watching the intro.

I mentioned this in another thread, but if you have Roadrunner, and have had your modem for a long time, take it into T/W and ask for the Ambit. It's faster.

hmmm...I do watch in HD...but its the 5 prong....Is the HDMI cable going to make that much of a diff over the regular HD cables? I did ask them for it and they said they dont offer it on the box...I think they were confused and meant they dont offer the HDMI cord though

i had an old upconvert dvd player and got rid of it because it kept screwing up, decided to give my hd cable a go with hdmi and noticed it was quite better.

however, the hd content coming from the x360 (component) is super clean. download the x-men 3, superman 3, or any of the interviews on xbox live , they come out very clean.

anyone connecting the x360 with VGA on a DLP or other display? how does it look?

I don't have a 360 myself yet, but I do have a Samsung DLP. a friend brought over his 360 one day to test it out on my TV, and it looked noticeably better going through the VGA cable (compared to component)

I'm not saying it's like 10x better or anything, but it was noticeable. sharper for sure
