I got an offer to preorder and pickup at BestBuy the day of or after the launch date because I've been a rewards card memeber for a few years.. I did all the stuff online and looked into it, but they were not selling just the two core systems like I was thinking about.. BestBuy offered each system with Madden (I think, (I know it was a football type game) then you could get it with or without the HDD and the wireless kit, there were 4 choices, but nothing that I would spend that extra $$ on just to have it the day of..

I am getting a pre-ordered bundle for my birthday, but I am not the one who actually has the rights to that bundle. I.e. - someone else who most definitely isn't following this action is sitting on it, then will give it to me on my birthday, which coincidentally is a few days post launch. I don't know where it is from, etc. (I shouldn't even know I am getting it - it is a surprise). Should I be worried that even though they have ordered the bundle, it may not actually be there?

I paid on my pre-ordered 360 in full yesterday (the $399 package). I am in "Wave 2" of the preorders. Wave 1 was 12-24 peeps who first preordered, and were put into Wave 1 b/c Gstop expects roughly that many 360's sent to that one store n the first week. They expect I will have mine in Week 2-3, depending on actual 360's received.

Every store I have checked into is sold-out on pre-orders for the 2 base packages. Now imagine that every single 360 retailer in Houston gets 12-24 360's in week 1. That's not that many per store, given how many people are clamoring to get one. Hype is building & I think Msoft is gonna have a runaway hit with the 360, even when the PS3 comes out. I think including a basic free (for a bit) form of Live with each package is brilliant, as well.

While some people like myself will buy both systems. I don't know too many non-hardcore gamers that will blow another 400 bucks within a year to buy another console. Every online gamer I know is springing at the 360 to take advanaage of Live... I see the PS3 doing to the 360 what the Xbox did to the PS2 - losing out initially on numbers until people recognize the technological superiority & want the more advanced PS3's capabilities as the 360 ages. That is if Sony provides a Live-like online capability, though IMO.

Anyway, I played the 360 version of Call of Duty in CompUSA yesterday & it was amazing. Given that it's not even supposed to be one of the "premium" graphics heavy titles, I think the next-gen systems as a group will be incredible.

I'm sure there might be the possibility of that happening. Obviously, it may depend on where that person ordered from, although even then, I'm not sure what the situation is with online orders (outside of Ritz Camera I guess). For example, will EB place a higher priority on shipping out online preorders as opposed to distributing these systems to their stores, or will only those who ordered before such and such date get their orders shipped, similar to the in-store preorders? Just a guess here, but since these stores will probably end up getting more money (I think) from these online preorders as opposed to in-store reservations, they just might try to take care of those first. Again, this is just me speculating.

Hehe...my fault but it looks like I changed the topic of the thread. I think I'll create a 360 launch thread tonight/tomorrow (week from launch :)) so that we can talk about system availability, launch titles (including reviews), predictions, launch concerns, impressions, etc. Probably better that way since I doubt everyone will think the "Xbox 360 BC" thread would contain important info for the launch.

Went to the EB, I pre-orderd my 360 from, today just to see that everything was in order one last time. The employee kept going on and on and on about how lucky I was to be getting one and how smart I was to pre-order in May since I was 9th on the list. He said their store had over 100 pre-orders in October alone and all of those will not get theirs until January. I asked how many they were getting and he originally told me he wasn't allowed to say, but then revealed it would be 10-11 at launch.

Told me I could pick mine up at midnight of the 21st.

Anyway, all the rumors of low shipment totals seem to be VERY true. The guy had a pretty thick stack of papers with a LONG list of pre-orders he had to call to give them the bad news.

Oh, for those interested, they are not pre-ordering for PS3 yet. I asked while I was there as well. :D

Well, just to let everyone know, I'm officially screwed. I called Ritz tonight and they said that they wouldn't be filling any orders until the beginning of JANUARY! When I asked why they didn't let people know about it before now, the guy tried to feed me a line of bull about how Microsoft has delayed the launch of the system until the first week in December (heard anything about that RC?). The guy then said that I could cancel my order, "If you purchase the system from another vendor". When I asked him for some dealers that might still be preselling one of the most hyped game consoles in recent memory, he didn't happen to come up with one off the top of his head.

I guess I'm calling in sick on the day before launch and hope I get lucky.

Hahahahahahahahahahah.....hahahahahaha....sorry about that, since I know you're not in the best of moods right now, but I just can't believe he said that. IIRC, some stores already have the freaking system at their stores or will be getting them pretty soon, not to mention a couple people are playing it AS WE SPEAK if they won one during one of those contests. I suppose it is possible, but it would be one BIZARRE turn of events. Maybe he thought you were calling from Europe or Japan or something.

As I mentioned earlier, Circuit City will be allowing for online preorders on Friday, although you'll have to be pretty quick and lucky for that I imagine. As I said earlier, I'll probably make a new thread later today (11/15) where we can continue to discuss the availability of the system at various stores. Hopefully, something will come up that might offer you the chance to still get a system at launch.

You're half-right and half-wrong. PES and WEI are pretty much the same game, BUT the PES games are released earlier, since it is the Euro/Asian versions and WEI is what they call the later North American version. I don't know if an import XBox game works in a US box, have never tried it.

According to their website, the packages will be "available Friday, 11/18 at 2pm EST." So I guess about 1pm our time, the site will open up and allow for people to preorder a bundle. Not sure how many they'll have available, but I imagine they'll finish up pretty quick (assuming they'll quit after they've gotten more than enough for day 1). Here's the site:

Agreed...only a handfull of the games I have are on that list... I'm assuming more will come but damn, why the bs...I also don't like the fact that if this is a new generation and costing so much money that it isn't Wi-Fi integrated...I'm debating on whether to get one as I may just wait for the PS3...which looked cool on the circuit city website...
