    I just saw that today.

Great film, brought me to tears when one of the survivors was describing his mother's death. Also, the Japanese soldiers they interviewed in the movie, one of them was sick. Here's an 80 year old man talking about raping women as if it was picking pears at a supermarket.

Also recommend you read "The Rape of Nanking" by Iris Chang. This event should definitely be remembered, it's a pity most of the Western world has no idea this happened during WWII.

I actually am not going to watch this film. It's seriously a very very sad look at how just cruel and non-human the Japanese were at Nanking. If I watched this film (even though I know all about the atrocities), I would be extremely pissed at everything Japanese for a long time.

I urge anyone who has not heard about this event before to watch it. It will help you understand why China-Japanese relatonships are so strained. Afterwards do some reading on how the Japanese soldiers treated Korean people during WW2 and you'll understand the animosity that exists even today.

ya, even just do some research about how they treated americans in the world. it seems like a lot vets hate japanese for the treatment they received in WWII.

the chinese don't exactly treat their own people well today with their water polluting factories. so let's not judge the whole japanese race on something they did half a century ago.

i think most people are ready to move on but the hold up is the fact that the japanese government denies their actions during ww2. they have even deleted these facts from their history books in order to make their actions during ww2 look patriotic and nationalistic.

if the japanese government would just admit their actions and move to reconcile with their neighbors, i think there would be huge strides in east asian cooperation.

so you are saying, if you are a smoker, 2nd smoking is worse for your wife and daughter than your neighbor raping, experimenting, and killing them?

I fail to see in this thread how anyone is judging the whole Japanese race as you are trying to claim.

As to the rest of your comment, eh never mind.

for the past month, you've made several threads about the Japanese and how much you hate them. so i don't expect you to be rational or bias in this argument.

I swear that Japan is actively trying to provoke the strained relations between China and Japan, remember that textbook controversy where the publishers had put it as the Nanjing incident and everybody raised one hell of a fuss (the Koreans got offended as well). And in the Hong Kong news, indeed all over China, when the Japanese prime minister goes off to visit the shrine that remembers the soldiers in WWII (including those in the Nanjing I think), everybody in China raises another helluva fuss.
