It's easier to understand what FFB means by "recall all the idiots who didn't know the Titanic was an actual ship" or "idiots growing up will think Hitler died in a movie theater" when you realize his friend circle growing up was largely comprised of hanging out with strippers ... which, also,,,btw,,,, gave him some misguided sense of being worthy of giving GF advice on cfnet ... :D:p

Just to add the opening of Inglorious Bastards (sp) with the Jew Hunter then the cut to Aldo and the Bastards is right at the very top of war movie opening scenes along with Saving Private Ryan and Full Metal Jacket.

The film tells an alternate history story of two plots to assassinate Nazi Germany's leadership, one planned by Shosanna Dreyfus (Laurent), a young French Jewish cinema proprietor and the other by a team of Jewish American soldiers led by First Lieutenant Aldo Raine (Pitt).

Hey, anyone want to start a Vietnam War Movie thread so we can discuss how none of them were factual, but rather just studies in the human condition during war, if not complete alternate history like Apocalypse Now.

Is this because we lost the war, so no great action stories to tell that were real?

If someone does, I’ll jump in for FFB to point out how there was a bunch of idiots who thought Forrest Gump was a real person.

    It's a fantastic tale!

Starring Kirk Douglas, Martin Sheen, and the lovely Katharine Ross.

Overrated I think. I don't care for dunkirk, Saving Private Ryan will always be the mountain. We need more nam war movies because music was better. JFK,LBJ,NIXON, that is some golden material. ;) Jacob's Ladder, just watched it. HOLY SH!TTTTTTTTTT!!! Jacob's Ladder>DUNKIRK

It's on Amazon prime right now -- one of my favorites when I was a kid.

Absolutely. I think you are wrong about this because you are in fact wrong about this. I know it's shocking to you and all.

I've really enjoyed Man in the High Castle, and season 3 goes all in on the sci-fi elements. But agree it is slow.

Another film not mentioned: Memphis Belle. I think it singlehandedly stoked my fascination with the B17 and WWII era combat planes in general.

Just finished it. One of those endings where you want to yell at the writer for wasting your time.

Just saw this. You do realize most people I hang out with aren't strippers, and we haven't been around many for well over a decade. But as long as we're insulting people, meh. I've met you.

    Valkyrie with Tom Cruise

Based on a true story and one of the rare movies where

the protagonist fails and gets killed.
