I was referring to the actual event. Sad ending of a career for a guy that had it all going for him in the industry.
Drunk. If drinking was his only problem he may still be wrestling. That dude was HEAVY into drugs and drinking. I loved his mic work. He came of as something sinister when he talked. In comparison someone like Kane without the mask today just sounds stupid. Jake was still wrestling some low-budget tiny town circuits a few years ago.
No Stack, you're thinking of the wrestler with the parrot. What I was talking about was back during Houston Wrestling, Fiesta supermarkets did ads on the show. Fiesta had this Hispanic guy that had a parrot on his shoulder talking about the sales going on at the store.
That's what i get for coming into the conversation in the middle. lol I remember both of them now...but i thought it was about wrestling so that's the first person i thought of lol
Don't forget Frankie. You know, I find it funny that the WWE thread gets no attention, no mention at all every Monday Night, and Tuesday, nor Thursday night, and Friday, except when the WWE comes to town, but when we talk about the good ol days of Paul Bosch, and the Sam, everybody comes out of the woodwork. Good, Classic Stuff.
That's probably because the WWE went downhill after WCW folded. No competition makes the monopoly lazy. And there's the nostaliga factor in that you think fonder of the experiences you had during your childhood.
That's because the current WWE blows. Give me the old days with Demolition, the Hart Foundation and the Can-Am Connection. Also, does anyone else find it peculiar that back in the '80s, most of the big name wrestlers had gimmicks and funky names like One Man Gang, Honkey Tonk Man, Mr. Perfect, Macho Man, etc.. and the jobbers had regular names like Barry Horowitz and Lanny Poffo. However, these days the big wrestlers are the normal guys with regular names (ie: John Cena, Randy Orton, etc..) and the jobbers are the "gimmick wrestlers" (ie: Mordekai, Hurricane). It's like a total reversal.
Excellent point on names. I don't think it's a complete reversal though. John Cena is about as gimmicky as you can get as the second coming of Marky Mark.
THis reminds me. I have John Tenta as the next wrestler to die. Actually, has anybody heard about him. He is actually dying. He has some form of cancer, I can't remember the kind though.
