sad to see The Big Boss Man go. i can remember watching early wrestlemania's on tapes my friend had with him on them. can't believe someone i remember from 80's wrestling was just 42. i'm not quite old enough to have watched the mid-south stuff, but what's so great about Thunderbolt is they still show the exact same commercial that i can remember seeing like 15 years ago as a kid. i guess when you've got a classic, there's no need to change (like Discount Tire Co. and their tire through the window ad that i've been seeing just as long). of course, it's all about the "we put the yeeeeeeehaw back in your motor and transmission" line anyway, so there's no need to change it.
What about the freebirds? terry bam bam gordy michael ps hayes buddy roberts dont forget birdman.. koko b. ware the missing link the road warriors
Johnny Valentine, Wild Bull Curry or Lou Thesz would whoop any of these youngsters. I once saw Jonny Valentine and Wild Bull Curry in a fists taped Texas Death match at the Coliseum. Got splattered with blood at ringside.
My pops was a HUGE wrestling fan and he used to take me to Hirsch Colesium in Shreveport during Mid South's heyday. My favorite was Tony Atlas, Mr. Wrestling and the Junkyard Dog of course. Ah man, the memories! Great thread!
man... Big Bubba Rogers, Ray Traylor. 42 is young. I thought he was heading towards the 50s. Alot of wrestlers die young. Let's play a game called which wrestler will die next aka Wrestling Deadpool My guess is Jeff Hardy.
1. Stubbs sounds right on the Motorcycle Dealer. 2. Pick-Your-Part? 3. Conway? 4. Love Rental sounds right. 5. Sam Houston
Random Houston Wresting babble Jose Lothario (much better built than any of the current crop of wrestlers)...his partner Alberto Madrill Blackjack Lanza and Black Jack Mulligan Big Tex McKensie Wahoo McDaniel and Ernie Ladd (former Oilers) The show took place at Sam Houston Colluseum 1919 Caroline
Actually...the Sam Houston Coliseum is right, but it was off of Bagby. 1919 Caoline was on the other end of downtown and was the wrestling ticket office.
1) Correct 2) I was actually thinking of JJ Furniture. The short dumpy guy with no neck. 3) Correct. The chain link fence company was owned by the father of Tiger Conway, Jr. who was a wrestler on the show. 4) Correct. The Love brothers (one was white and the other black). 5) Nope. Sam Houston Coliseum is right. Paul Boesch's delivery for the address : "1919 Caroline at the corner of Pearce". Although after reading Refman's post, I may only be partially right on this.
Yes...........now I remember JJ Furniture. Was there a guy and a bird promoting Fiesta grocery stores?
DoD - Were you talking about the actual show, or the events? The show itself was not in SHC ... I was trying to think of where it was, but couldn't remember. -Magnum T.A.
There's no real rhyme or reason to wrestler deaths. Who would have thought Jake "The Snake" Roberts would outlive guys like Bossman and Mr. Perfect?
