Hehe...I had left the room during that match, and when I came back, I saw that. But I didn't know who the heck she was, at first. I then remembered who she was, but it was about a good minute after. Why did she have to go brunette and make me confused? :)

That was actually one of the best things I've seen on WWE programming in a long time. It's even better because I HATED the commitment ceremony idea.

Not really. That stuff really bugs me because, like it or not, kids DO watch the show.

Agreed. He was bad as Papa Shango...and even worse as Godfather.

I missed the last 5 to 10 minutes of the show...I guess I need to head over to prowrestling.com and get the recap.

Here is a pretty good site to go to for WWE news: Online Onslaught

A friend of mine got tickets to a house show in town in a coulple of weeks so I will probably be going with him.

Yeah, but you have to remember my post above: I have raging hormones. :D I thought HLA was stupid, but this is ok. But I doubt it will do better than the other 35 Godfather comebacks. :)
    Still...

My problem isn't for you and your biddies. You guys are old enough to handle it. I worry about the people I see who are taking their 5 year olds to watch RAW.

It's NOT ok. TNN certainly didn't think it was ok. Their advertisers didn't appreciate it much either. If WWE continues along this path they will find themselves either submitting scripts to the network ahead of time...or worse...cancelled entirely.

I admit I haven't thought about the kiddies. I don't think there was ANYTHING like this when I was 8 or around that age. And that was only about 8 years ago. Thinking about it better, I think they probably should stop with the half-naked women matches.
They could still get male viewers by having something like a Trish vs Whoever match, but just keep it at wrestling intead of bra and panties, beds, and that stuff. I know I'd watch that match even without that stuff. :D

BTW, I rented that Legends of Wrestling game for the PS2. Its got a lot of the older wrestlers. Was Hogan ever 300lbs, because I think it listed him at that? I know he was big, but 300lbs is a lot.

We have to...otherwise the guys calling the shots never will.

There wasn't. This has become popular within the last 5 years.

Wrestling fans will watch whatever is thrown on the TV. They have been looking for the casual viewer since 1997...at the expense of their core audience.

Great game...I bought it 6 months ago. Legends of Wrestling 2 will come out in 2003.

Hogan was listed at 302 lbs. in 1988.

Do you remember about maybe about 2 years or so ago, they used to show a lot of nudity. (or something like that. I call paint on skin nudity.) I think that was the max they could go, so they did cut back some. I just think maybe they should cut back some more, and it will be all right...

Except the cursing has gotten worse too. But I think that is just society as a whole. It seems now like the a-word is no longer a bad word, and the b-word is ok as well. I hear them a lot more now. They are funny sometimes, but it has changed.

Yeah, I rented both that and Smackdown 3 since I was having some friends over. I pretty much kick butt on both, but we rarely fight each other. I mostly got it because of RVD, but there are other cool wrestlers as well. I liked LOD, Bret, Hogan, and all those other older wrestlers. I can brush up on some history with some of the others you mentioned in this thread a few pages back.

    DANG!

I never knew that. That would have been when I was 2, though. I usually only saw him in his days with WCW and this past stint in the WWE. I've seen SOME tapes of him in the WWE in his prime, I guess, but I didn't think he was 300lbs. He could play some PF or C in the NBA at that weight. Or maybe some T or G at football.

I guess maybe what happend to him and Arnold Swaenafhhfhsrorhg(Sp?) are about the same. He was all big in those Cona movies, but he's pretty small looking now. Either that, or Hulk had a big beer gut I never saw. :D

Let me put this in perspective for you. I got married last December...in a few years I'll be a daddy. I'd like to have my wrestling program be something I don't have to hide away from my kids to watch as though it were a porno show or something. I'm not saying I'd have my small children watch something as violent as wrestling...but I just don't want to have to freak out if they come in the room. I'm sure that in 1988 when you were 2 that your Dad was glad he didn't have to turn off the TV every time you crawled in during wrestling time. Does that make sense at all?

I understand what you are saying but it's a weak excuse. It is a FACT that the more often you curse the less effective it will be and the less meaning your cursing will have to other people.

You shpuld really sit and tyalk to your Dad about those guys and the other wrestlers from the good old days (1980s). He'll be a wealth of info for you. Anything he can't tell you...then you can just ask your good buddy Ref.

Sometimes I forget how young you are. Sometimes I can read your posts and say : ah...he's too young...he'll figure it out. But other times I honestly forget how young you are. Many times your posts do NOT show your youth. And yes...that was a compliment.

Back in the day he had 24 inch biceps.
He's in his 50s now and atrophy will happen...that and he quit the steriods in the late 1980s.

Hmm...didn't know that. I try my best not to curse, so I would naturally be against it.

I remember a little of him in WCW and using that line. He just slowly got smaller and smaller. Then I look at him now and almost have pity on him. (sad thing is his biceps will be still be bigger than mine in 10 years.) Forogot about the steriods also. :D

I've got no problem with beautiful women appearing on WWE broadcasts. I didn't see the 'HLA' thing, so I can't form an opinion on that one way or the other....though it didn't sound very promising.

The 'commitment' ceremony was another idea that I thought was likely to fail badly; however, I think it actually was handled rather well. It was far more interesting than a lot of angles usually turn out to be.

The content, to me, isn't as big a concern as the entertainment value. Too often the writing is sub-par. All I want to see is something that actually works and works well; if it involves beautiful women or the occasional cuss word, so be it. Unfortunately, the writing doesn't work too often....and that includes the 'acceptable' material.

Well s*** RC, why the f*** not? It doesn't make you a S***ty person because you use a few bad f***in words. :D

He is a shell of what I remember him to be. I see him take a bump now looking like he's worried about breaking a hip. :(

Neither do I. The problem I have is with having them almost naked half the time and making the program less about wrestling and more about sex. If you want to have beautiful women wrestling in traditional wrestling gear, I'm all for it. But if I see another bra and panties match I'll barf.

It was completely salacious. That simply isn't appropriate on primetime TV. I understand that it's a cable channel...but it's not like HBO. They are governed by the same FCC strictures as NBC, etc. TNN has issued a public apology and vowed never to have anything like it on their network again.

Agreed. The best swerve angle in a long time, and one I didn't see coming. I knew something wierd was gonna happen...but I thought Billy would turn on Chuck or something. I NEVER expected Bischoff.

The content is a problem due to the kids out there who are watching.

Maybe they could come up with good storylines rather than just going to the lowest common denominator: "If we give them Stacy's butt and a ton of curse words we'll be golden."

REAL creativity is harder than that.

Agreed. Brian Gerwitz (RAW's head writer) needs to be shot publicly.

Pretty much agree there. I remember that one women's champ. I want to say her name was Alundra Blaze, or something like that. She went to WCW and was Medusa, I think. That wasn't so bad. Even Sable fought some, but then she went crazy. Lets say all the women in the WWE fought more, I would still get to see beautiful women, but not see too much. (though I wouldn't mind seeing it too much :D , I agree others shouldn't or don't want to see it, like what Ref says.)

Yep, that was crazy. I knew something was wrong about that dude, but the makeup really helped hide Bischoff. He did a good job acting too. I would have figured I'd have been able to tell his voice, but I guess not.

Oh dang! Shoot, I know you did not say that, you son-of-a-gun. I will put you through a freakin table. :D

With my parents in the same house, I don't think I should be cursing every single sentence. We're not the Osbournes. I once tried saying a few, went crazy with it, but now I am trying to use my willpower not to. Just me, though. I have no problem with someone else saying it. Just kind of strange, sometimes.:D

    Exactly...well said.

I never would've guessed that Sleazy-E had it in him to do such a good acting job. Color me wrong I guess.

    RC!!!!! Get the tables!!!!! :D

That's cool. You seem like a good kid dude. You should really consider going to A&M.

I'm not a good kid....I get written up because I miss a few hairs shaving. I'm going to grow up in a prison cell with a full beard and will be asking for some friggin corn bread! :D

I realized I kind of said that wrong. What I did was I tried to be rebellious, but I just tried saying the words to myself, with no one there. It was hard to go against over a decade of not doing it, but I did it. I also tried extending my middle finger. Almost had to tape my fingers down while I did it. :D After a while, I would say a curse word almost every sentence, but only when I was alone. I almost got caught a few times, so I decided to try and stop. I said it like I plain out cursed my parents for 45 minutes. I don't think I have said a curse word TO someone, just to myself.

Oh boy, I sure changed this around to me.

Hmm...anybody wanting to get the new Smackdown when it comes out? After playing the 3rd one, I'll definitly try this one. I will also try LOW 2, as well.

LOW 2, the new Smackdown and RAW 2 are all expected to be excellent wrestling games. Smackdown is expected to be the best out of the 3 though.

Smackdown 3 surpised the heck(another non-curse word.) out of me when I played it. I had played part 1 on the PSX when it came out, but I didn't like it at all. I didn't want to rent it, but there wasn't that many other WWE games for the PS2. I got it, and was amazed at how much progress they had made.

LOW was pretty cool. The blood feature is nice and the wrestlers bring back memories. The way all the moves are done is nice as well.

I think I played RAW on the XBOX. It was ok. But after seeing Smackdown's progress, I'm open to it. Graphics were nice and most other things were as well....actually, to be honest, I only played a little and that was a while back. I don't remember much. Didn't get to check out story mode on it. :(

    Oops...I decided to make a review post.:D

I expect Smackdown 4 to be the best as well, but I'll pobably give all 3 a try. Most wrestling games are fun as long as you got some friends to fight with. :)

I really enjoyed the first Smackdown...but the second one was a huge disappointment.

RAW for the XBOX sucks. RAW 2 is expected to be a big apology for the first one.

If you enjoyed Smackdown's season mode...expect good things for the new Smackdown. It is reported that it will have the best season mode of all.

    I thought RAW sucked, but I wasn't sure. Now I'm sure. :D
The season mode for Smackdown 3 was pretty cool. It did get repetitive, but it did have some surprises. It was funny because my friend and I were trying to beat it with several characters. We had pretty much learned the pattern. One time he pick Kurt Angle. On some Smackdown, Kurt Angle drove down in his milk truck. It was pretty hilarious at the time.

As long as the pretty much keep what they have and upgrade a few things here and there, I would think this would be a pretty darn good.

BTW, I realized you, me and Batman have all had several posts, most of which were to replies to each other. We really need to go to sleep earlier. In fact, I'll probably follow his lead and hit the hay as well. (hehe...a phrase I've never used.)
