Ok... I'm going to be blunt. I don't like reading. I can read, I read rather well, but I don't like it. Probably apart of the anti-school thing. Actually I think they got me to hate it. I use to read sometimes, but they made us read books I found boring, and therefor have gotten bored. There is a library in the town close to me, but I'd have to ask my parents if I wanted to go. I don't know what you would do, but I would rather stay home, watch TV, play games, talk Rockets, etc. (I know, that makes me seem lazy and dumb, but I'm not dumb.) Thanks Antisonic for being one of the few not named RC Cola or Refman that watches wrestling.
Believe me RC...I feel your pain. After law school I swore I would never read anything longer than a sports page article ever again. but these books were of the variety that I could not put them down. Mick Foley's book was a bad idea for me at the time. I couldn't put it down and I was studying for the Bar. Oh well I passed and had a great book to read at the end of every study day.
On the subject of favorite wrestler, I gotta go with Bret Hart, too. I loved his character, his moves, his style, etc. One of the greatest matches of all time, to me at least, was Bret Hart vs. Roddy Piper at Wrestlemania VI, I think. May have been some other event. Anyways, they had the interview with both guys right before the match and then they went out and wrestled brilliantly. Hart was cut and eventually won, overall a great match.
I used to like Flair, Kerry Von Erich and the Road Warriors back in the day. Now I like HHH, taker and the Hardys. Stacy,Trish and Torrie arent bad either
All-time favs; 1) The Ultimate Warrior - no wrestler got me pumped as much as this guy, pure hype and adrenaline. 2) Bret the Hitman Hart - Awesome, awesome wrestler who along with HBK and a couple of others carried the Federation in the post-Hulkamania years. Also from my hometown of Calgary, Alberta. 3) Macho Man - Especially earlier in his career, one of the better in-ring performers, as well as a lot of charisma outside it. Enjoyed the Randy Savage-Elizabeth angle. Current favs; Undertaker - didn't care for him that much for the majority of his career, but I like his current 'American Badass' image. Edge - Awesome in-ring performer with wit off the ring. Lita - Pure athleticism and hot to boot Azim da Dream
I totally forgot about him! I didn't really get to watch him, but I would watch his key matches on some videos. He seemed pretty cool. That Warrior Hogan match must have been pretty good live. When he came back, I got excited. But unfortunately it didn't last long. I had his little comic, but I lost it somewhere. I was going to keep it and sell it for a high price. I don't think it would have gotten much.
Warrior-Hogan at WrestleMania VI in 1990 is one of the 3 best matches I have ever seen. It's right up there with Ric Flair-Ricky Steamboat 2 out of 3 falls at Chi-Town Rumble 1989 for the NWA World Title. By the way...I have now hit 1,000 posts!!!
I saw it on some video we rented. I don't like the way they did it though. They talked a lot, and only showed the highlights of it. Still, it seemed to be a great match. Would of loved to see it live. I hear a lot about Ricky Steamboat, what was he like? I've seen him before, but I've never seen him wrestle. Not sure what the Chi-Town Rumble was either.
Go out and try to find a copy of WrestleMania III to rent. I will try to find some of his other matches you may be able to rent and give a look to. Your Dad will remember Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat. One of the best ever. His career was cut short due to a severe back injury. He now operates Steamboat's Mid-Atlantic Gym in Charlotte, NC. He also is doing some guest spots on NWA:TNA.
How would I improve wrestling? I guess the first thing that I would do is have less pay-per-views. The best formula, IMO, was 4 per year. Royal Rumble, Wrestlemania, Summer Slam, and Survivor Series. They will of course never do this, too much $$$, but it allows for things like titles changing hands on regular televised shows. I would also likke to see things like the Battle Royal or the elimination tag match used more often. I would get rid of the door on steel cage matches. I would reduce the amount of T&A (I can get that elsewhere, why don't you just have wrestling). I woulod focus more on in ring action than on whatever Vince and Steph are doing, although I do like Bischoff. I would definitely move away from stupid things like HHH putting HBK through a window OFF CAMERA. I would likke to see some factions form, and not have them dissolve within two weeks. I would also get rid of hardcore matches. There are two problems with them. First, the same things that allow you to pin an opponent in a regular match, like a chair to the head, have almost no effects in a hardcore match. Second, if there are no rules, why limit yourself to a chair or a trashcan. Just shoot somebody with a tranqulizer dart and pin them when they are passed out. Things I currently likke about the WWE: Hulkamania Kurt Angle The Un-Americans Bubba and Spike Dudley 'Taker The Rock blasting all of the interviewers (especially the one with Coach) Jamie Noble and his girl Rey Mysterio Jr. Booker T, Golddust, and Mini-Dust D-Von and Batista Y2J Bischoff The Nature Boy People I want to see: Goldberg Buff Bagwell - I know he screwed up in the locker room, but when he turned babyface on WCW and started getting a push, he was really starting to light it up Scott Steiner Blitzkrieg - Dude could fly like Mysterio, then he just disappeared Sting Bobby the Brain Heenan People I never want to see again: Kane The Big Show Edge SCSA All of the WWE commentators (JR, Lawler, Taz, and Cole) Shawn Michaels HHH Bradshaw Steven Richards Tommy Dreamer any hardcore match Rikishi
Amen. The number of PPVs leaves them scrambling for matches. This leads to the hotshot booking we currently see. I'd go with the Classic 5. WM, Royal Rumble, Survivor Series, and King of the Ring. I've never understood the T&A concept here. If I want to see that I'll spend a lot less and order a porno. Him I could do without really. He could use a new gimmick. Best young in ring talent on the roster. Actually...JR is the best thing on the mic since Gordon Solie. If he can still wrestle, let him. If not, they should stop wasting my time. Very likeable. Simply put...one of the best in the business today. Too big of a following for the innovator of violence. We agree...completely.
I gotta give due to old skool wrastling!...My favs come from the 80's: Road Warriors were so bad ass! ...A younger Macho man, and Steamboat, (btw, their WM 3 bout was epic!)... Nowadays, I am O' so hoping the Goldberg deal gets worked out somehow (I know WWE wants him bad!, check rajah's for updates...) In addition, HHH, the Rock, and RVD is up there...
Hey, did any of you like when Perry Saturn had that insane gimmick. You know, when he would say something that didn't make any sense and say you're welcome? I kind of thought it was weird at first, but after a while, I got a kick out of what he would say. You're welcome.
He was given that gimmick by management as a punishment for working WAY too stiff with a rookie who was trying out with WWE in a dark match prior to RAW. It was so beneath Saturn's talent.
So that's why he was like that. I kind of wondered why he had such a big change.(I know the chair shots weren't the reason.Mick Foley's was ok, right? )
It was pretty bad. One of the most predictable, too. "So what if Brock Lesner is sitting there. He won't interfere." "Huh! Why did Matt do that do Jeff?" If that's how were suppose to think, we are supposed to be idiots. Though most fans are, or drunk.
