The bad thing is how they almost started to enforce the rules. A bad guy (I like that phrase.:) ) could use a chair, but a good guy couldn't. He's always get cheated for cheating, but I guess the bad guys were better with cheating. Have you noticed that they are using a little more cheating techniques, like the hand on the rope during a submission or the feet on the rope during a pin. It could be just me, but for a while it seemed that they stopped doing that, but I've seen it a lot more lately. Like back then.

I like the days when someone's finisher was a punch, leg drop, or an elbow drop. Those seemed kind of funny as I look back at them. They have gotten a bit more creative as the years have gone by.

I just noticed out of 21 total posts, 19 are either you or me.

As far as the focus on in ring vs. backstage storyline, and how the in ring is done as relates to "rules," it has been explained to me that it is like a rubber band. In the late 1990s it went so far to the way it is now that eventually it will snap back to the way it was. I think that is right. The newness and "edge" of WWF Attitude has passed...the current TV ratings show that. They'll have to give us good wrestling for the ratings to improve at this point.

There will be others. I look forward to reading them. But for now I have to worry about Mrs. Ref waking me in 4 hours to go kitten shopping. :)

Its going to be weird when someone sees 20-something posts and thinks its a great thread, just to find us talking back and forth. Still, I'll do my best to keep this at the top. Unless Clutch sees other wise, that is.
Good luck with the kitten shopping and name.

edit: well, it looks like Ref is gone, and I'm fixing to go to sleep my self. So I'll start something for the guys who will read this while I'm sleeping all day. What was your first wrestling moment?

If I ran the WWE I would focus more on getting the wrestlers to work on their tans, take steroids, rant incoherently and work on a catchphrase they can bellow for years and years. And spandex..lots of spandex. :D

If anybody remembers my WWE and ESPN thread, you'd know what I'd do.

If you didn't, basically what I would do is begin to merge the sports and sports E. world. We'd have matches like Anna Kournikova(SP?)vs Trish Stratus,Karl Malone vs anybody in a hardcore match, Shaq vs the Big SHow, and Jeff Bagwell vs Buff Bagwell. Talk about ratings there!

I just read a rumor stating that X-Pac has been released by WWE.

Does anyone know the update of Goldberg? I would really love to see him and Lesnar go at it! And then have the Rock interrupt the 2 giants and kick some A$$!!! That would be just too sweeeeeeeet!!

The nWo deal....I think it was set up much better in WCW than it was in the WWE. The characters they had then fit and I loved the way they invaded WCW and changed Eric Bischoff to be the bad guy, even before Vince McMahon.

I think the reason WWE is on a slide is because we've seen everything they are doing before.

When the WWE was on a high we were seeing some incredible things. Flying off ladders, Being thrown through tables. I remember once in WCW someone was trash talking Sting. Sting ripped a hole through the center of the ring, climbed out and started kicking butt.

I think the WWE over played its hand a bit over the last year or so.

Just on wrestling, how good is Rey Mesterio Jr. I remember when I first saw him in the WCW...I couldnt believe it. Even now what he is doing is just fantastic. Im glad the mask is back, hopefully he gets into the main....uh...story more and more. I'd love to see him win the WWE Title, it would be one of those against the odds type of things. Imagine if he beat Lesner.

Anyway that my rant over ;)

BTW, Ref, I finally found out who my dad met. No bruiser in it.
The name was "Killer Karl Krump." I don't know if that's exactly how you spell it, but I would guess its with a triple K.

Wouldn't surpise me if X-Pac was released. Doesn't quite seem the same as a few years back. I like him as the 1-2-3 Kid. I don't know why.

Like I said earlier, I liked the nWo also in WCW, but when it started getting stupid, I stopped watching WCW. I didn't like channel flipping. :)

I don't know if this is true, but I think I read somewhere in another wrestling thread that the reason Goldberg isn't wrestling is that his contract was with TNT, not WCW. I don't know how accurate that is, but it does make sense. Anyone else here about this? Or am I crazy?

Goldberg's contract was with Time-Warner. They bought out his contract a couple of months ago, so he is a free agent. Apparently WWE has tried to set up a meeting but Goldberg has been unavailable. He has gone on the record as saying that they would have to substantially tone down the racy nature of their programming before he would consider signing a deal with them. It has been rumored that he will sign a big dollar short term deal with New Japan soon.

I was close enough. Sort of. Probably wouldn't be bad to have him in the WWE. We could probably call him Stone Cold, and most people wouldn't know the difference. :D

Well, to keep this topic going, who's you favorite wrestler?
I guess mine is the Undertaker. He has always been my favorite since I was young. Though he probably won't last much longer. The Rock is a possible candidate when he does retire. (gotta love his catch phrases.) Stone Cold would have too, but... well... you know.

Man, I also read that Seattle, WA was favored to be home for WrestleMania X-9. Live from Safeco Field.

Tropicana Field was a choice, but they seem out of the running again.

I have 3 all time favorites:

    1) Bret Hart (when he wrestled it was art)
    2) DDP (read his book if you haven't already...inspirational)
    3) Mick Foley

Those 3 guys are a cut above anything going today.

I mainly saw Bret in the later part of his prime. For the most part, he was good and I liked him, but at the time I liked Taker more. But then he had that Canadian group. (well, not him personally.) Still pretty good though. I also only saw DDP in the later part of his career in WCW, but I liked him too. (Probably up there with Sting in WCW, in my list there.) I like Kimberely too. :)
Mick Foley is probably the toughest guy in wrestling. I know wrestling is fake but he could change your mind. Liked his Dude Love thing, kind of. Also liked the Rock and Sock connection.

I wish someone else would post there favs.

You really need to read "Positively Page," "The Best There Was, The Best There Is, And The Best There Ever Will Be," and "Have a Nice Day." They are written by DDP, Bret Hart and Mick Foley respectively. You'll get a whole new appreciation for these guys.

I'd love to take your offer, but I have no money and no job. That's not bad since I'm only in hig school, but I can't buy things on my own. I would ask my parents to buy them, but I'd rather spend that money elsewhere, such as school stuff and things like that. Not to mention I am starting to get frustrated at reading because I'm having to read a book this summer for my English class.(All Quiet on the Western Front. Have to have it done by Monday, but I'm almost done, and I barely started too.) Though I know if I could read what I want, like wrestling books for example, I would enjoy it.

But when I get rich, and own the world, I'll consider that offer and read them. I remember Mick's book doing real well. Should I buy the Christmas book , too? :)

If you like children's books. I haven't read it but Lawler did the illustrations. When finished with your school reading...see if your library has them. They may have Foley's book. If not...pull up one of the big comfy chairs at Barnes & Noble. :D

Ever heard of the library? :)

    My faves:
    1) Stone Cold- awesome character, hillarious interviews, and tight finisher. What more could you ask for?
    2) Repo Man- greatest gimmick EVER! :D
    3) The Rock- As a heel only though, 1998-99 Nation/Corporation version.
