LOL! Paul E. Dangerously was awesome! They brought back the cell phone gimmick the week before SummerSlam as Heyman made harassing phone calls to the Rock. That was it though. They should give him back his old big-ass portable phone.
I think the wwe needs a big splash on Goldberg could be it. For that, I think he warrants the salary, but Mcmahon is stuck between a rock and a hard place? What if Goldberg doesn't deliver? And he doesn't want to lose anymore cash. But, put it to you this way: Walk down the street with a pic of Bill and The Rock, and I think just as many people would recognize Bill as they would the Rock. Remember the first show where VKM was on both wwe and wcw? Whose name was the wwe crowd chanting? And, this is taking into account that the Rock is more charismatic and has been in more movied than Bill. If marketed the right way, Goldberg could be bigger than the Rock. They are different, I understand that. I'll put it to you another way: Inject Goldberg into the triumvirate of hhh/rock/scsa. I would pay 50 bucks for a ppv to see Goldberg fight any of those guys. I would not pay to see any combination of those 3 w/o Goldberg. That's not to say Bill is better, more talented, or a better draw. But the fact that he's never been in the wwe lends to the draw/mystique.
Welcome aboard man...great post BTW. You are in the majority. The old Original Midnight Express vs. Midnight Express matches from 1989 were awesome. I think Bobby Eaton is training wrestlers for WWE developmental these days. Big difference between wrestling storyline and sleaze. The ringwork as of late has been suprisingly good. I hated HLA...but LOVE 3 minutes. It stopped making money. Sadly, Jackie Gayda is responsible for some of the worst ringwork ever on RAW. They were excellent. Tag teams those days were so good...Demolition...Strike Force...etc etc Foley lost his ear in Germany. the ring ropes were made out of elevator cables. They were strung WAY too tight. His head got stuck between them and his breathing was made difficult. in order to save his own life and avoid strangulation he ripped his head from between the ropes and his ear was severed in the effort. They are tested in the states which still require wrestlers to be licensed by the Athletic Commission. Many states still require it for just this reason.
I missed it earlier, but I'm watching the replay of The Best Sports Show Period. (My Bill Worrel impression.) Coming up is Chris Jericho, according to my satellite guide. I may be wrong, but I think they also said Erich Bishoff will be there as well, but I'm making no promises. (it is on FSSW.) Has anyone else seen it already? edit: Ah freak...they cut it short and started High School Extra. I didn't get to see it. But I did get to see Leeann Tweeden on a beach in swim wear. Hehe...raging hormones.
I remember when one of Paul's guy was in a feud with Ricky Steamboat. I think it was Rick Rude or Stuning Stone Cold. Steamer had a Ninja as a bodyguard to protect him. Then in the match, the Ninja had those big ass cell phone and he knocked Steamer out cold with it. And Paul's guy won. ERIC BISCHOFF. Does anybody have a clue where he gets this HLA thing from? I just remembered. The infamous Atlata GOLD CLUB. His wife was performing Hot Lesbian Action with other strippers from the Gold Club. When Raw comes to H-town, I want to have a sign that says ERIC BISCHOFF in GOLD CLUB Member. Too bad I Don' t have ticket. Somebody, hook a brother up.
FYI for hardcore local Houston Trish Status fans check this out http://www.wrestling-online.com/news/article_863.shtml ---------------------------------------------------------------- Here's your chance to be in a documentary and hopefully meet Trish Stratus Reported by Colin Vassallo E-mail: editor@wrestling-online.com Sep 19, 2002, 4:47pm Earlier today we were contacted by an associate producer for CTV in Canada looking for help for an upcoming documentary. Now, we need your help, actually help from fans who are located in Houston, TX. On September 30th, WWE will be going to Houston, TX., for a live RAW broadcast. The folks at CTV will be flying down to film and talk to fellow Canadian Trish Stratus. This documentary is about fan-athlete relationships, and Trish will be the subject for the wrestling part. CTV are looking for someone who goes to WWE shows, reads magazines, has posters, and most importantly, going to that RAW show on the 30th. Now CTV wants to meet fans in their own home, hopefully in the room where they have posters and memorabelia of Stratus. If negotiations go well, you might have the chance to meet Trish in person at the event while the folks will be filming. So if you're a Trish fan, live in the Houston, TX., area, are going to the show on the 30th, then this is your chance to get on TV and hopefully be able to meet Trish. If you meet all the above criteria all you have to do is e-mail me on editor@wrestling-online.com with the following: 1) Your full name 2) Your full home address 3) Your telephone number 4) Your e-mail address and if possible a short answer to the following two questions: 5) What would the thrill of meeting Trish be like? 6) What would you like to ask them if you meet her in person? ----------------------------------------------------------- Id do it but I am not a hardcore Trish fan. Yea I know she is HOT AS HELL, but what if I was picked and they came to my house without any Trish memorabelia and posters to be seen. Maybe Ill do it just for the hell of it and see if I get picked at all.
Hmm... are tickets still on sell? I've got a poster on my door of her that I got her to sign at Axxess last year. You can borrow it if you get picked, Dave.
Like I said. HOOK A BROTHER UP WITH A TICKET. If somebody wins, give me a shout out. All you need to do is say Kam, and everybody will know it's me. I would ask Trish, Is doing what you do, Working out, Training, doing the show worth it? because you are always on the road away from your loved ones?
I haven't watched wrestling since I was like 10 years old back in the Ultimate Warrior and Hulk Hogan days. I actually thought it was real! When I found out it was fake I just couldn't watch it anymore. Nowadays, I see what they put out there and I can appreciate the physicality and athletic abilities of these guys but there is no way I could get into it like I did when I was a kid. I know it is really popular these days so I wanted to know what you guys like so much about? I'm assuming some of you are grown men which puzzles me anymore how you could still enjoy wrestling. Not trying to make fun here, just wanted to know what all the fuss is about.
Now that everybody knows the fix is on...it's about three things: 1) more realistic characters 2) tremenous athleticism 3) willing suspension of disbelief.
BTW...I thought you guys would find this interesting: http://www.prowrestling.com/2/5590.shtml "With Smackdown now becoming the "favorite" show among many WWE fans, one has to wonder what is going through the minds of WWE staff, as RAW has never really been considered inferior to Smackdown. A member of WWE's booking team, Brian Solomon, posted commentary on the WWE website discussing the issue. He feels that the statement "Shut Up and Wrestle" speaks relatively well for him, and is even more prominent now that he feels Smackdown is "kicking RAW's ass". Solomon feels that promos are what make the show entertaining, but they should not take priority over the actual matches. That is obviously a good description of Smackdown, and it is currently paying off. Additionally, in agreement with the many fans that e-mail us daily, he feels that Triple H is on WWE TV way too frequently, which hurts the show. Solomon feels that most of the other primetime shows feature better acting and speaking, so WWE can only defeat them by showcasing wrestling."
Thanks for the info, Refman. I agree that the ringwork has been good as of late. Competition between rival promotions may make the storyline better, but the lack of competition (monopoly) is probably making the wrestlers work harder. In the current climate, you have to work your butt off for less money, or you will end up in the NWA TNA with Hall and X Pac (is Buff there too, or is he working the indys?). My guess is that they are trying to make RAW play more like WCW did, to try to get back those fans. I wouldn't be suprised if Bischoff comes out some day in the future and says he is changing the name of the show to Nitro. I'm predicting that the Island Boyz will beat Billy and Chuck tomorrow, and Bischoff will bring back the lesbians for some 3-way HLA with Steph. I think they think that will get a lot more ratings than Bischoff kissing Steph's arse (Regal style). Plus, the McMahons have proven that they will submit themselves to anything, no matter how degrading, for the "good" of their show. P.S. - I read somewhere that the lesbians were actually wrestlers from an indy circuit. This makes sense - they probably wouldn't have civilians in thongs getting splashed by 350 pounders.
Man, that Hildegard sure was a hottie! J/K They didn't do such a good job on makeup this time. "She" looked a lot like Rikishi. BTW, I don't think Steph knew she had that lipstick on her face. She didn't ever wipe it off or anything. She just kept going on. Also, I think Eric head went pretty far up there. For a sec, all I could see is some hair.
Yeah so much for Smackdown being the Favourite, the Global Warning Tour sells out a stadium in Melbourne that no other sport including the national game has yet to and the pay TV station the shows Smackdown has decided not to renew it's contract with Smackdown and so Smackdown is no more in Australia....................... thanks Fox8 you ARSECLOWNS!!!
The countout for the last match has to be lamest way to end a PPV. I pray that this wont leadup for a "rematch" at the next PPV. Undertaker needs to get the young talent "over" and let Brock dominate everyone else on Smackdown, the thing is, I do not see one superstar that would beat Brock, which is the reason why I thought they gave him the title WAYYY TOO early. I just hope that Raw is going to be great on 9/30.
I AM I AM!!! :waves tickets in the air: UPDATE on the Trish Documentary! I emailed my friend the link and he submitted his info and got the following reply within a few hours from the webmasters of the site: Hi, You should be contacted by A------w Y----s, associate producer for CTV in Canada regarding the Trish Stratus bit in their upcoming documentary. Please be as professional as you can be. We take a great pride knowing that someone like them contacted us for help. Let me know how it all turns out, good luck. Regards, Colin HOLY ****! I think my friend got picked! I told him straight up that I am GOING to his house if they come and he said its cool with him since I gave him the site. You may see me say hi to you Kam!
I thought it was pretty lame as well. Though wasn't it a DQ for hitting the ref? I actually thought they might start it back up since Brock and Taker wouldn't quit. It looked pretty cool when Brock went through that...umm..thing, whatever you call it.
Brock already beat the man, aka the Rock, legitimately. Where do we go from here? Too much too soon. I can't believe that was the ending. Do they have wcw bookers now or what?
I thought it was a DQ too, but I was not even sure who the DQ was on. I didn't like the ending, either. Taker should have done the job for Lesnar, even if it was the result of outside interference. Taker has been a good company man and done the job before; I don't see why it didn't happen here. While we're on the job to Lesnar topic, isn't this one of the rumored reasons Stone Cold was upset with the WWE, because they told him he would have to job to Lesnar? Otherwise, I thought it was a pretty good card. I thought the ring work for Triple H - RVD was very good. I don't understand the Flair swerve at the end. At first, I thought, okay, now Flair is also going to hit Triple H with the sledgehammer, he just wanted Triple H to win so that he could face him as a face to win the title for the 17th time. But then why did he walk out arm and arm with Triple H? The HLA was kind of funny. I could tell that it was Rikishi right away, and that Bischoff was in line for the big stinky. "Her" head and rear were just too big to belong to anyone else. Man, the had to be the longest stinky face anyone has ever had to endure. Finally, again on the topic of blading, I can't believe that both Taker and Brock bladed. Especially, Brock, to mess up that young baby-face of his. And his blade was right across the middle of the forehead, not in the hairline like Taker does. The power the WWE has over these wrestlers is very obvious. If there is not going to be a legitimate rival organization, maybe the wrestlers should try to unionize. If they did, though, I bet Vince could bust the union.
