They will. The problem thus far is that Goldberg wants to work a microscopic number of dates and wants huge money. If Vince gives in then what will happen the next time a big star who works 200+ dates a year is up for a new contract?
Yeah Goldberg wants to only work a couple PPV's with Rock and NO house shows, so as not to "dilute" his importance. Talk about overestimating your market value. Hasn't wrestled in what, 2 years almost 3 (he had a bad arm injury before WCW closed down remember so he must be awfully rusty). Tell ya what Bill go to Japan and get your head kicked in by guys like Ohtani, Muto, and Misawa and see how much you're REALLY worth in the ring. Ah well if Vince caves it's just going to mean more money for the guys who really WANT to wrestle for a living. If you want to see some good wrestling try tonight's Velocity at 9 on TNN. Got a couple of indy guys who I've wanted to take a look at getting tryout matches (American Dragon, Xavier) and Spanky wrestling again tonight. This is my tryout recap night at another site so I'm going to be paying close attention .
Well I didn't get to see it *snarls at Time-Warner for moving the PPV channels to digital* but it sounds like that apart from Angle/Benoit, I didn't miss a whole lot. I knew Brock would win the RR, because he was the only one with a really compelling reason to do so. Dudleys win tag belts AGAIN, big whoop. Torrie and Dawn Marie..well...I hope it was short at least. Steiner/HHH = have Steiner win to appease the fans while letting The Egomaniacal One keep his "Hey look at me!" belt. Taker comes back = more no selling and another spot on the upper card taken away from a deserving wrestler. The scary part is, I don't even rememebr off hand what other matches there were. I've been a WWF fan for a long time, but they're rapidly approaching my "Who gives a crap?" line. Unless they build up NEW stars from guys who are over with the fans and have talent (Benoit, Angle, RVD, Booker, cruiserweights in general, and I'll even throw Lesnar in) are put over to STAY, the downward trend will continue.
I saw the show and would give it a "B". Steiner v. HHH was fairly weak, especially when Steiner tried to powerbomb HHH but fell on his arse. Angle and Beniot was very entertaining, the match of the night, which was not suprising because it pitted what has to be two of the hardest working wrestlers in the business. After a break after Angle won, Beniot limped off with a lot of pop from the audience. The Rumble was pretty entertaining, as a whole. It was kind of neat seeing four of the biggest guys in the WWE going at it at the end. I don't think Lesnar gets a lot of push for the way he snuck up behind Taker and pushed him out while Taker was occupied. But I guess it allow Taker to save some face, while still giving the kid the inevitable match with Angle at Wrestlemania. Taker was again Vince's most loyal employee and did the job again. I doubt if you would have seen Austin come back from a long layoff and a lot of pop and still job to Lesnar. I am still at a loss as to who the Raw participants will be for the title at Wrestlemania. Any ideas?
this split thing has got to stop, having two title matches at WM is a joke the winner of the RR should be fighting for THE title not one of the two!!!!
The split would've been cool if DDP's career hadn't ended Austin didn't walk out Nash didn't get injured The Rock wasn't missing nine months a year Hogan and Vince didn't have another falling out Five former world champions right there. There's only so much rub Angle and HHH(when he's willing) can give to the younger guys. But I agree that there should be only one world championship.
Well the bombshell did indeed suck. Austin at NWO? Way to try to pop the buyrate, but I'm still not going to pay $35 for the when I'm facing HHH/Steiner II. Smackdown's talent may be able to make it a decent show, but I get Smackdon for free every week. With tonight's 4 Horsemen (don't argue, you all know what they're supposed to be) it's going to be The HHH Show even more than it already is. I liked both the character promos. Gets Nathan over as the crazy criminal and Sean as a whatever he's supposed to be (Devil? Id? Who knows for sure quite yet). It'll be interesting to see what they do with them.
the paytv provider and wwe had a falling out over the cost of Smackdown, so i have been stuck with just RAW for the part few months, it is nearly turning me off rasslin
I kind of get the feeling that the roster split was supposed to be a short term thing until WWE could secure 4 more hours of TV time weekly. Then they could operate 2 separate promotions each with 4 hours of TV a week. It looks as though we may be headed to a Vince vs. Bischoff match at WM. Wouldn't it be cool if Eric went over in that match with a stipulation being that he could take the RAW roster and "create" his "own" promotion? Sigh...the possibilities. Smeg-- Yikes!!! Don't give up yet man.
What a royal screw job on the Dudleys. I can't believe they only kept the titles for 24 hours. I guess Regal and Storm are going to get some major heat now.
Actually I think that more heat will be on Chief Val Venis....errrrr....I mean Morley. His character was stale from the beginning, so my guess is that this is his avenue back to in ring competition.
I hope so. C'mon Big Valbowsky!! Some of the best promos ever. "The Big Valbowsky is just like Hakeem Olajuwon...drives it to the hole and scores everytime." Classic.
By the way, is Morley his real name, or just a new gimmick (I'm pretty sure it didn't say Val Venus on his birth certificate)?
The p*rn star gimmick is dead...thank God. What a lame gimmick. My understanding is that his real name is Sean Morley...which he will likely wrestle under from here on.
