If Mooch was going to sign w/ Rocks, he would have done so already. What is taking so long? Fegan is working his magic. RT/CD would love to have Mooch back. But that might not even be an option. It'll be a S/T deal just like SA but not to that magnitude. I agree with you that we don't need another star. Just a role player. That is why Mihm could work. -krosfyah
krosfyah - But not for Mooch, I say. The whole "Run'n Gun" thing works alot better if you've got a true PG on your team, and Mooch is the only one we have who fits that bill. Mihm is not worth Moochie IMHO, considering our plans. Find another big body (meaning, find another team with a big body to spare who can use Walt but not Moochie) to fill the 5.
I agree with you 110%. I'd rather keep Mooch and dump Wiz. But I've got a feeling now its too late to keep Mooch. Why is it taking so long to sign him? I had that same feeling about SA when I posted it. Hours later the NY deal rumor got out. That being said, the money is a dead even swap between Mihm and Mooch if you sign Mooch for his desired contract. For RT/CD, at least you can salvage a role player in your weakest spot. Put it this way, I won't be surprised if we learn about a S/T deal w/ Mooch in the next day or so. I also wouldn't be surprised if it is with Cleveland. If we can sign Mooch (pray that we do), then it looks like Jahidi for Walt is probable. But we might not even get that shot if Fegan works his wonders again. -krosfyah
S**t, man, there's the jinx I agree that the contract situation is basically sound (capologists, please prove me wrong!). And Mihm wouldn't exactly hurt us at this point - God knows we've got a gaping hole up front, and any help at all is welcome. But I think we can do better. But again, Moochie is the only true PG we have, and that's not something you let go of without a fight - especially on a team that's just decided to Run'n Gun its way into the playoffs. Who's supposed to set up all this 'gunnin' that we're talking about? Steve? He'll do it when he's not racking up his 25 points. Who's gonna get the rest of them, cause Steve isn't going to play point for 48 minutes? Mihm sure as hell isn't. Steve won't even play all of his minutes at point. He's going to play a decent amount at the 2, with Mobley/Rice at 3, Griffin at 4, and Mo at 5. Guess who we want to play point when that lineup goes on the floor? It's called smallball, and with this lineup we maintain an offensive punch there that we never had before w/ similar lineups... We're gonna see alot of it, so my advice would be to either jump on or get used to it. Who runs better with this squad, Moochie or Mihm? But we neglect the most important factor: Moochie actually wants to stay. That will count for something in the end.
Preachin to the choir. The Mooch is a perfect fit. But will Fegan strike again? I'm just suggesting that the Cavs are a real possibility to get in the mix. If it doesn't happen this week, then it may happen near the trade deadline, however. That is if the Jahidi deal falls through. A trade with Wiz is really difficult at 5 mil. Even for Washington --since other teams are also interested in Jahidi. BTW, I'm happy about the GRice/SA trade. I don't call that a jinx. For a piddly 2 mil, we get a big upgrade. And 3 years less on the contract length. Must get sleep now.
If Fegan strikes again, then I'M GONNA STRIKE FEGAN! Seriously, tho, I'm not a violent person. I would never think to assault someone else. I'll talk someone else into doing it for me. Moochie stays.
Treeman- I hope you are right about Moochie wanting to stay with the Rockets - and I believe in his heart he wants to, but factor in Dan Fegan. I heard yesterday on Kilt 610 - Charlie Palillo said that an informed source said that Fegan has set a 3 mil per season minimum for moochie- multi year deal with incentives. That is a very steep price - we can get a back up point guard cheaper. I have come full circle on this now. 3mil per season is too much - let him go-Fegan strickes again- but if I was a pro athlete I would want him as my agent--6mil for 7 years for Anderson - a role player. I hope we can trade Walt - there is no point keeping him- Bullard was a more consistent shooter for a lot less money.
"I prefer Doleac to Mihm" haha, doleac is just a skinny white dude who can shoot a little bit. oh s**t, he will be rocket by next week....
I'd take Doleac over Mihm anyday, too. Doleac could actually be a very serviceable backup....he can bang and is money from 18feet in....orlando actually wanted to keep him but had to unload him to clear space for Hill/McGrady...
3 million for Moochie? I don't think so. A multiyear deal starting at around $1.6 million would be about right for him. Like others have suggested, Rudy has a knack for finding diamonds in the rough. If Mooch wants 100% more than he's worth, I say Rudy should go find another CBA gem. Who knows? Maybe this Kyle Hill guy can excel in Houston. Honestly, would someone really pay $3 million (starting salary, mind you) for Mooch? The Cavs? The Lakers? The Knicks? I guess if Todd MacCulloch can make out like a bandit, Mooch can, too. Strange things are indeed afoot in the NBA... I blame this all on Jim McIlvaine. CD, I urge you to call Fegan's bluff. Mooch wants to stay. Stand your ground and don't take any "ish" from Fegan. Get Steve and Cat involved, before it's too late. No more sign and trades, please.
To keep some perspective: Michael Doleac cannot be re-traded as he was sent to the Cavs only a short while ago. Any trade would have to wait the required period or until December. Marc Jackson can only resigned by Golden Sate if they use thier (or a portion of their) exception($4.5M). When you use exception to sign you cannot sign and trade. Moochie wants to stay in Houston. Fegan is hired to get the most for his client. CD will not knuckle under on the Mooch situation. A Cav's deal is not impossible, but a Seattle move involving Shammond and Jelani McCoy would be closer than any deal sending Mooch to Clevlend for a center. IMHO anyway. Watch Chicago,Washington, Seattle, Golden Sate, New York, etc ....
