This game just proved my point earlier again. A dominant center (a.k.a Yao) is exactly this USA team sorely misses. Yao on the US team will help instead become a liability like durvasa was suggesting!

If Yao played for team USA, I do not think he will triple teamed every time in the lane and can only get five shot attempts in a game.

^^ You know what? You guys had a point there. China led by as much as 11pts at the early stage and Greeks were bent on stopping Yao and letting his team-mates beat them. Imagine what the all stars in USA Team can do. Either Greece stopped Yao or the rest of USA Team. Mmmm... Interesting thought.

Yao is undoubtedly the best center in the league. But until he proves it by winning, he will not get the credit due him. And he needs consistant shooters around him to win.

Miami would trade Shaq for Yao. nuff said.

I Love Dwight Howard, and he will be worthy of this ranking in a couple of years after he works on his offense. By the time he hits his healthy mid twenties he will be great.

Amare was way better then Yao two years ago. Yao isnow much better than he was, Amare needs to prove he can get back to his previous level. I am a big Amare fan, show me he is healthy. Yao / Amare battles should thrill us for the next ten years.

I am looking forward to seeing a healthy Yao this year. I want 25 points, 15 boards, 5 assists, and 35 minutes a game.

I'm broke. But if Yao grabs 15 boards a game this season or any season in his career, I'd happily donate $100 to the tip jar every time he achieves it. :)

I strongly suggest you raise to 20 boards a game. Or you really going to go break. :)

I don't think that the writer put PF's in there to push Yao further down. Fact is, good centers are harder and harder to come by. I remember the days when centers ruled the earth. Shaq, Dream, Robinson, Mutumbo, Alonzo, Ewing, etc. used to have battles. Now a broken down Shaq and Yao are really the only dominant centers left, so you have to fill in the blanks w/ powerforwards. Yao is obviously the best true center in the league. Looking at big men next year, my list would probably go like this... [#] = an actual center...

    1. T. Duncan (consumate champ with all the right tools around him: great team, coach, and system)
    2. K. Garnett (Still a triple-double threat everynight, can do it all on both ends, only flaw is he can't seem to close out games)
    3. Y. Ming [1] (best center in the leage period, elevated his game last year and put the Rockets on his back, should continue to improve this year with Alston, Tmac, and Battier all there to lighten the load)
    4. D. Nowitski (Took his game to a whole new level last year and got his team to the finals, still needs to develop more of a post game though)
    5. D. Howard (young, athletic, great D, in time he will be the best in the L, right now he is still raw)
    6. S. O’Neal [2] (His presence alone changes the game for others, but the fact is the heat is wade's team and shaq is a shell of his former self.)
    7. C. Bosh (Often overlooked, but should continue to put up good numbers and improve in Toronto)
    8. A. Stoudamire (I honestly do not think that he will return to form next season, but he should still put up good numbers as Nash's 1st option)
    9. P. Gasol (good offensive center, good shot, nice touch, doesnt have a power game or much athleticism though).

    Honorable Mentions: J. O'neal, B. Miller, L. Odom, B. Wallace
