Why does everyone keep talking about him signing somewhere for less money? You don't just give away that money if you still feel like playing. If he thought he had anything left, he'd just stay with Portland. Looks to me like he may have some serious personal problems.

They just talked about him on PTI. I dont remeber the specifics but they mentioned that he still wanted to play. They thought that he gave up the money because he was unhappy with the lack of minutes in portland.

Kilgore, that is a good reason for him to give up the money. With a waiver, he can go to another team. If he kept his contract, he could never get traded. Also, if it were me, I think I'd feel greatly relieved to be playing for a salary closer to what I was worth. It'd cause me a lot of stress to be paid as excessively as he is.

The articles mention that this move will save Portland lots of money in luxury tax. I guess they don't have to pay the tax on the $20 million Kemp won't be collecting, even though he was contracted to make it (and, I think it still counts against the cap the same -- someone correct me). I wonder if this will have much of an effect on whether the luxury tax will kick in for the league at all.

That is a really good move on Portland's part why is this even an issue Blazers fans should be relieved. My guess however would be that he is trying to turn his life around and probably will no longer play.
