Btw, SF averages 41.5 MPG this season. Bibby averages 34.8 yet his APG is only 0.2 lower.

It's really not. Bibby is cow dung compared to Francis and Iverson, and even Iverson is overrated these days.

    This is disgusting.

I too am surprised at everyone else's "shock" about this pick. Bibby is the perfect complement to a talented, offensive-oriented team. He is a true point guard who looks to involve others first, takes great care of the rock, and can hit clutch jumpers with regularity.

Francis won 45 games two years ago with Mobley, Shandon Anderson, a broken down Olajuwon, and Mo Taylor starting a PF. Boy that is such a great team, its a wonder why they didn't win 50 games that year. I'm sure Bibby probably would have led that team to 60 wins.

This won't be a popular response, and perhaps duplicative because I haven't read the 60 posts prior to mine, but here we go...

Iverson and Francis are "me first" guards that USA Basketball does not need. Mike Bibby was selected over Francis and Iverson because he has proven himself to be a big-time leader in games. Look at last year's Western Conference playoffs against the Lakers...Bibby was huge, and knew when to pass or look for his shot, and his care with the basketball was unquestionable.

Steve Francis and Allen Iverson are such huge talents that we overlook the fact that they are horribly selfish basketball players with low team-ball I.Q. Steve Francis for one has NO clue how to use a big man to increase his own effectiveness, and is a moron with the turnovers. I'd say that 2.0 of his nearly 5 turnovers a game are due to good defense and teammates not knowing where to be on the floor, but the other three are due to too many dribbles, taking at 3-5 defenders, and other "NO-NOs" a good NBA 3 on 3 Hoop It Up team knows not to do.

Guys, look at Steve and Allen: they are shooting guards, not point guards. Larry Brown had the cajones to move Allen from 1 to 2, but Steve and Rudy are unwilling to face the facts. Steve Francis could lead the league in scoring as a 2 guard, but we're an 8-9 seed team in the West with him running the offense.

Trade Mobley and somebody else for a good pick or a veteran with 4-5 years left on his engine. Get us a responsible playmaker with good man-to-man and perimeter defensive skills, and watch us make the second round of the playoffs and become a contender in the West.

Yep. Bibby is more efficient. He's smarter. But also remember that Bibby isn't a assist machine like Stockton. Bibby's team KNOWS how to pass too. So a lot of the assists are shared throughout the team; 5 assist here, 3 assist there, 4 assist there. Each player does his part.

Can anyone stop talking about that 45-win season? Like taking a team to the 9th of the West is the biggest achievement in the world.

Plus everyone here has said that Francis's a better player but USA selection is not solely about who is the better player.
