ok ok, I also see the Rockets demolishing the Mavs tonight.. and yes, you avoid the highways today and on Friday the 3th, it's not good. and I see Clutch deleting this thread pretty soon..
Dude it isn't that complicated. Quit being an *******. If you're waiting to see the results, you just avoid the websites and then you watch the final table tonight. It really is that simple.
ugh. Thanks.... I avoided CNN / ESPN / MSN / and most other sites. For some reason I felt that this was safe. I guess I should've lived the life of a hermit today. The worst part is how ESPN dragged this out for months to prepare for.. TONIGHT....
I followed most of the final table live, as well as the event leading up to the final table. Cada seems kind of fishy to me. I don't particularly care for his attitude either. He got it in with the worst of it more than once and needed quite a run of luck to chip up at the final table after being way down. I am more impressed with Eastgate's play than Cada.
most of the websites running the story have a title such as "World Series of Poker Crowned" as to warn the reader they are about the see the results of an event which has it's final Event airing later that night... a bunch of fans here were doing fine avoiding the results (while living their normal lives) until this thread came up...
to go from 2 million chips at the final table to winning the whole tourney is pretty outstanding...the stars def aligned for this young kid. he was my 2nd choice to win after ivey. i liked is demeanor
One of the main things I didn't like about him is that he seemed cocky. When he got his chips in for his first double up, he went around shouting repeatedly "First time i've been all in all tournament, First time i've been all in all tournament". That's something Phil Hellmuth would do, and this guy doesn't have nearly the credentials of Phil Hellmuth. He also sucked out on pocket queens with pocket two's against Saout, all in preflop, by hitting a two to stay alive. And he crippled Shulman by sucking out with pocket 3's against Shulman's pocket Jacks. In my estimation, Cada seems like the worst quality champion since Jamie Gold. This is just my opinion.
I never watch ESPN (or visit their website) unless I know there's something on that I want to watch. And I find that out by checking online tv listings. Not everyone's lives revolves around ESPN. What's funny is some people complain how they hate ESPN because they keep hyping up certain teams or people but yet still watch it all the time. I don't. That said, I didn't care if this was spoiled or not. I watched a little bit of it online. But it's really poor etiquette to spoil it in a thread title.
too many fans attend the WSOP. even if a gag order was placed on the media, it would find it's way into the blogsphere via twitter, message boards, facebook etc... the only way around this is to have a truly live show a la american idol. but then of course, nobody would watch because you'd have endless hours of people folding and uninteresting hands. That and ESPN couldn't drag the show out for weeks at a time and add their heavily scripted(and stupid) commentary.
right, I get that. But my point is, your life doesn't have to revolve around ESPN or even Clutchfans for you to accidentily stumble upon the winner of this event prior to it's airing. it's not a huge secret, or even a secret that ESPN is trying to keep.
By the same token, it's not hard to not stumble upon the results. It's not exactly the Super Bowl we're talking about here. I imagine the only website I regularly visit that could spoil it for me would be Google News; we'll see if they put it on the front page. And I don't think they'll reveal the results during V or the Rockets game tonight.
Um, yeah, I'm with you. People playing cards? Really? What channel does the slot machine championship come on?
Sam is an intelligent guy, so I think what he's saying is that tournament poker is a joke. Real poker is cash games. And all of the pros will tell you that. And anyone who knows anything about poker will tell you that. And you're saying playing poker is equilavent to slot machines? Which makes you not all that good at math, clearly.
