It is freaky. I saw a couple of your posts, and twice I have hit reply and typed out messages but got a little freaked out, and decided to stay in lurker mode.

Your posts have been admirable so far. Reading about the thwarted terrorist plot over there, is really making me crazy.

That was a great series that I didn't discover until later in life. Did Outer Limits come before or after Twilight Zone? I'd guesss before because I remember the TZ shows, but I didn't catch the OL shows until reruns years later but I don't know. I can't imagine I could have missed it since there were only 3 channels back then.

Where's The Gary when you need him?

    PEOPLE GET READY

People get ready, there's a train comin'
You don't need no baggage, you just get on board
All you need is faith to hear the diesels hummin'
You don't need no ticket you just thank the lord

People get ready, there's a train to Jordan
Picking up passengers coast to coast
Faith is the key, open the doors and board them
There's hope for all among those loved the most

(insert searing Jeff Beck solo here)

There ain't no room for the hopeless sinner
whom would hurt all mankind Just to save his own
Have pity on those whose chances grow thinner
For there is no hiding place against the kingdoms throne

People get ready there's a train comin'
You don't need no baggage, just get on board
All you need is faith to hear the diesels hummin'
You don't need no ticket, just thank the lord.

do not attempt to adjust your monitor...
    we control the horizontal...
    we control the vertical...

The actual episodes were never as good as the introduction.

    The Twilight Zone, 1959-64.
    The Outer Limits, 1963-65.

An amazing period for Science Fiction, with some of the greats cranking out some good reads... like Heinlein, Asimov, Clarke, Ellison (who wrote for Outer Limits), and many, many more.

"There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are controlling transmission. If we wish to make it louder, we will bring up the volume. If we wish to make it softer, we will tune it to a whisper. We can reduce the focus to a soft blur, or sharpen it to crystal clarity. We will control the horizontal. We will control the vertical. For the next hour, sit quietly and we will control all that you see and hear. You are about to experience the awe and mystery which reaches from the inner mind to... The Outer Limits."

I think the list of actors for The Outer Limits is remarkable. Just for fun, here are some of them:

Cliff Robertson, Donald Pleasence, Robert Culp, Geraldine Brooks, David McCallum, Shirley Knight, Martin Landau, Harry Guardino, Sally Kellerman, James Sikking, Gary Merrill, Martin Sheen, Edward Asner, Bruce Dern, Dabney Coleman, Henry Silva, Barry Morse, Carrol O'Conner, Chita Rivera, Richard Jaeckel, Ruth Roman, Warren Oates, Nick Adams, MacDonald Carey, Robert Duvall, Vera Miles, Barbara Rush, Sir Cedric Hardwicke, Lloyd Nolan, Michael Ansara, William Shatner, James Doohan, Eddie Albert, June Havor, Ted Knight, and Dabney Coleman.

    Wow!

I used a different e-mail account for that board. I haven't checked the messages, but I made my first couple of posts. I don't think I have the stomach to stick with it too much.

Luckily they didn't really e-mail me. Though one person did reply that he believed Jesus would cheer a larger military offensive based on what he did with the money changers at the temple. That did make me chuckle picturing Jesus urging for more and more military action.

In the end debate on a message board won't change dogma entrenched to that degree. Basically I wimped out. I realized the time and effort it would take to try and really discuss anything. I also realized that other posts I would like to make would come off as if I am making fun of them, because there is a thin line between that and having fun because of their posts.

The Twilight Zone also had an impressive list of actors and actresses including many of those you named above. I liked both series tremendously. The newer, modern "Outer Limits" surpassed the old episodes IMO. That's really unusual for sequels.
