That was John Wesley Hardin. A distant relative of mine attempted to invade New Mexico for the Confederacy. He was too drunk to succeed. Have 2 Texas Rangers on my dad's side, one was an Indian fighter in the Hill Country and apparently was not a very nice guy, the other fought the Klan around Waco. Another relative killed a sheriff in Oklahoma in the 1860's, in a saloon full of people. He was not prosecuted as the sheriff was not very well liked and "had it coming". I have found an indian burial mound on one of our ranches.
