He had that 'it' factor. He came out, and you just reacted. As opposed to today's WWE, some people come out, and you think to yourself, "oh great, time to change the channel"

He may not have had the best mic skills, but he had that charisma in the ring

LOL What? Hulk Hogan did it all the time. Randy Savage did it. Shawn Michaels has done it. Steve Austin did it.

Sure he did. He refused to lose to HBK because HBK had refused to lose to him.

It did. He had creative control as he left the company giving him final word on anything that happened to his character, including wins and losses. He absolutely had the right to refuse to do the job, which is something many superstars have done in the past.

You are right. He went too depressive about it and played the martyr which was silly. He was still screwed.

This is not true. Vince himself has said that Bret was a very successful business franchise for him. The WWF was struggling at the time though you are right, but not because of Bret Hart's inability to draw. That claim was made by Ric Flair and has been debunked by many people.

Again, that's not true. Vince's plan was for Bret Hart to carry the title to Wrestlemania where he'd drop it to Austin. He had no intention of getting rid of Bret hart aside from money.

WWF Attitude was going to be born either way. Bret was already feuding with Vince McMahon on screen, DX was already born, Stone Cold was already born and there was an awesomely hot feud between Bret and DX, and Bret and Austin. Firing Bret Hart didn't do anything to accelerate the birth of the Attitude Era.

If I remember correctly, Bret was suppose to keep the title in Montreal and lose it the next night at RAW then leave for WCW. Vince made it personal and wanted the last laugh so he screwed him on his soil to make it look obvious as to who was the boss. I only wish Bret would have stayed to fued with Vince but that would have flipped him into a face which just wasn't his thing anymore. Bret Hart heel was AWESOME, people honestly hated the guy and the new Hart Foundation was the perfect heel cliq...the cliq/DX was just to popular to be a heel.

Thanks for the link, DBrunk01. Take a look at this line from the story:

"Bret had an escape clause in his contract that said he could leave the company giving 30 days notice, and that he would have "reasonable creative control" of his character during that final thirty day period. This would prevent his character from being unreasonably buried on the way out."

I don't think anyone would argue that Bret was "unreasonably buried." Vince was terrified that Bret would retain the title, skip RAW the next night and show up with the belt on Nitro, much as Medusa had done. It was a crazy time in wrestling then, the craziest ever maybe.

If Bret had simply dropped the title to whomever and wherever he was asked (like many, many more have done before and since for the good of the show), there never would have been a screwjob. I'm certainly not convinced that the power to dictate the results of his matches was explicitly written into his contract, either, but obviously that's how Bret interpreted his "escape clause."

The reason Vince is having Brett Hart Host Raw is only because TNA is starting up the Monday night wars again. TNA will have a live 3 hr show in the same time slot a WWE's RAW and Also TNA is having The Hulkster Make his in-ring debut for TNA that night. This could be very interesting but ultimately WWE will bury TNA.

I'd rather watch a stroked-out Hitman wrestle than watch Hulk any day.

Any competition at this point is good competition if you're a fan of wrestling. WWE has gotten WAYYYYY WAYYYYYY WAYYYYYYYYYYYYY to complacent with nobody else to compete. I'm not saying TNA is going to steal the limelight or even sniff it but I hope this makes WWE put on a better show than well since NITRO went off the air.

I also agree that it will make a more competitive show but WWE is going to have to put a stop to the PG kiddie Bull $h!t and bring back all the violence and blood that the attitude era was built on. Its the only way to win IMO. or mabey TNA will go bankrupt and Vince and his Billions will just buy them out like he does everyone else.

What the WWE needs is a heel that can work the mic, not a monotone robot like Randy Orton. And they need a champion that can actually wrestle not named HHH. Cena can't carry a match.
