Unless you enjoy boatloads of unintentional comedy I don't know how it's possible to "discover" that wrestling is fake yet still take it seriously.

lol, its just entertainment man. why don't people like you understand that? aside from kids, nobody takes it that serious. Maybe a couple nut jobs but there are always those few nut jobs everywhere you go. people watch it to have a good time. no different than any other TV or movie on television and some people take those serious as well, even though they are fully aware its a scripted show/movie (check the multiple tv series threads). the thing about pro wrestling is that you won't find anything else like it. yes, its extremely over the top and out of this world, but that is what makes pro wrestling what it is.

Yes, everyone gets it, its fake. But so is 90% of everything you see on TV. The way the mainstream looks down on Pro Wrestling like they're the "Strippers" of Showbiz amazes me.

I get that it's "entertainment" but it's all way too over the the top for my taste. The plots and subplots are all stupid. The "entertainers" are all experts at unintentional comedy. I don't know, I just can't get into it anymore and that's placing aside the fact that it's a bunch of oiled up dudes in speedos, in the first place.

Its a soap opera for men, plain and simple. Nothing more, nothing less.

So you intentionally clicked on a thread about wrestling to rag on people who like wrestling...gotcha.

i just saw one of the hardys at 24 hour fitness at westheimer and wilcrest

its either jeff or matt, not sure exactly

he was working out with some of his buddies, he looks familiar (heck i havent watch wwf in over a decade), i decided to not bother them, but there i was just standing there inbetween sets and he walks over and asks where the bathrooms were, i directed him to the right location, and asked "are you matt hardy?" he says "yes nice to meet you" as he walked away...

so either he just acknowledged he's matt, or he just wanted to get away, anyway, he looks really buff from what i remember of him long long time ago

he was doing cardio as i finished my workout

Pretty much. I tried watching a few brief moments of Raw the past couple Monday nights and just couldn't get into it. It seemed much faker and more over the top than I ever remembered. The unintentional comedy is off the charts, though.

I haven't been into wrestling in a long, long time. But if I had the opportunity I would probably watch Wrestlemania in Houston. My friends and I used to have a blast with it way back when. Good fun.

I don't think it's as 'unintentional' as you believe.

I really hope all of you people who still follow wrestling are under 24...either by age or IQ. The snickering behind your back will be softened by that fact.

so last night i saw matt hardy n friends at 24 hour fitness

tonight, i saw triple H and stephanie mcmahon, the guy isn't the behemouth i imagined when i was 13, but he's still big and buff, and stephanie is very pretty in person

most people were polite and left them alone to do their own thing, but one guy went up to them and asked for a photo, stephanie agreed but triple h declined, so the guy took a photo of stephanie walking on the treadmill

who might i see tomorrow?

I went to Wrestlemania 17 in the Astrodome in 2001...it was really fun.

I was a huge fan growing up and used to go to Houston Wrestling with Paul Boesch at the Sam Houston Coliseum back in the 80s.

I was an employee at UPN20 back in 2001 and got comp tickets to go since Smackdown was a new show on UPN.

I didn't keep that much with the WWF..but it was still a lot of fun and I got to see some great matches with Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Triple H,
and I remember this incredible ladder match and Stephanie McMahon in s fight. Fun times.

Anyone going will have a blast I'm sure.

Can't wait for Sunday.. here's the final card:

WWE Champion Triple H vs. Randy Orton

World Heavyweight Champion Edge vs. John Cena vs. Big Show (Triple Threat Match)

Intercontinental Champion JBL vs. Rey Mysterio

Jeff Hardy vs. Matt Hardy (Extreme Rules Match)

WWE Tag Team Champions vs. World Tag Team Champions (Unified Tag
    Team Championship Lumberjack Match)

    Shawn Michaels vs. Undertaker

Money in the Bank Ladder Match

    25-Diva Battle Royal

    Chris Jericho vs. WWE Legends

The main event is HHH vs Orton... can't believe the McMahons are playing the face role in this one. Like mentioned before... Orton is the best heel in the business and this one should be a good one. But, I think Hardy vs Hardy will steal the show. If you watched Wrestlemania 17, you would remember the triple threat TLC match. This is the only match on this year's card that parallels something of that magnitude. I expect a lot of crazy, high flying stunts and a very entertaining match.

hate to say it but that's a weak card. the only one remotely i'm looking forward to see is michaels vs undertaker and money in the bank.

Where do you get off on straight up insulting people? People like what they like, let it be. Does it make you feel better to sit behind your keyboard and try to belittle people because of entertainment choices? If so you are the one with the problem.

Wrestling is entertainment. Just like a movie, a play, etc. You know those aren't real either. All this coming to a wrestling thread just to call people stupid is pretty low.

With that said, I used to watch wrestling alot. But around the time of Benoit going crazy I totally stopped watching. It was pretty much the same thing over and over again. The storylines were lame and I just lost touch with it. At that point, I started watching MMA again after a layoff and even that is now getting boring to me.

I hope everyone who wants to go to WM25 gets to go and has a good time. I might hit a bw3 and watch to see how Reliant looks on TV. I am thinking it is going to look great. Everyone who is interested in going all are saying the card pretty much sucks. But sometimes cards that look crappy on paper turn out to be great.

Our out-of-town guests have started arriving. The Hyatt's lobby is a mad house right now. Honestly, I am surprised at this. Big WWE fan but the scene at the Hyatt is reminds me of the Super Bowl in the amount of visitors I see here. I walk throught here to get get to work next door all the time, never seen this place this busy at NOON.

I guess Wrestlemania really is turning into a Super Bowl-type event after all.....should be a good revenue generator for the city.

I haven't watched wrestling since NWO peaked, but I disagree about the unintentional comedy. TBH, I think it's naive to believe it's unintended. The whole point is to be over the top, the actors aren't oblivious to it. I think it's tough to play such surreal characters w/ a straight face. It just got tired after awhile for me, the same stuff over and over.

BTW, I remember when the Rock hosted SNL, and Triple H, The Big Show, and another guy (sorry I can't remember) made cameos. They were absolutely hilarious.
