I thought Walt Williams was a fan favorite? I personally love the guy, and hope he stays a rocket. Yet just about everyone in these threads are trying to trade him?? WHY?? He did good in the pre-season games we saw him in, and what do you guys do: "He did good, maybe somebody will want him now, and we can get.." His contract expires at the end of the year, thats a plus for teams, but isn't it also a plus for the rockets?? Come on guys, Walt fits Houston. Cuttino and Stevie love him, he fits the chemistry. Why would they get rid of him? He's better than Langhi and more experienced. Sometimes I don't get you guys..

Maybe you haven't watched much of the Rockets the last two years. Walt has lost so much lateral quickness that he D is a liability. He also goes on shooting slumps that last several months. Walt may be a good guy and a great locker room presence but he just does not have the athletic ability to hold down the 3 spot on any consistant basis for the Rockets...IMO.

If the Rockets don't trade Walt then continue to read this board and you will see all of the Walt sucks threads start popping up before mid season if he plays any significant minutes.

Not because Steve and Mobes loves everybody, we are going to have them on the team. Trading Walter is not about not wanting him but it is more about getting some help up front. Afterall that is going to be difference between playoff or not. You should have noticed than even the Grizzlies and Warriors are going to be better making the West even more competitive. We are fortunate to have Rice, Morris, Langhi, Thomas and even Torres to play the 3 if Walt goes. So we would be fine at the 3 but could be upgraded at the 5.

Walt has probably the most value of our logjam at 3.

    1. He's a great 3pt shooter off the bench
    2. He can handle the ball and has good court sense for a 3
    3. He's a great locker room influence and leader
    4. His contract expires at the end of the year

If we can work a deal w/Tor for Keon Clark and change that would be great.

The rockets won't be under the cap anyway, so Walt's contract expiring does not have value for us. Personally, I'd rather see the minutes split between Rice, Tmo, and Cuttino and Torres when we go 3 guard if we could get a big man for Walt - something that is likely near the trading deadline. *looks hopeful*

Walt had another great game tonight IMO. Langhi? Is he hurt? or just didn't play? I don't want to rip on the guy for not being good enough to even play when he's hurt. Walt fits the Rockets system. Shooting slumps? Everyone has shooting slumps, you can't say one player sucks because he has shooting slumps. Who doesn't???? Even Air Bullard had some. And yes I have been watching the Rockets the past two years... past ten. I don't want Walt to go anywhere, he's a good fit with Rice/him/Morris. Hell Morris even played 4 tonight. Maybe he would see some of the action at 4 during the season. Torres/Morris/Rice/Cuttino/Walt - we got the 2-3.

Walt and Glen are the same players when it comes to Defense, they both are TERRIBLE.

We should package KT and Walt for a big man, because Collier and Nwanko are not going to get it done in the L. Especially in the western conference.

We are going to get lit up like a Christmas tree at the 3 and 4 spots and on the boards. I like Walt's D over Glen who needs help guarding his man.

If Walt had done the things that Rudy T. had invisioned when Walt came over from Portland then Glen Rice would not be here today. Walt has been way to inconsistant and his slumps the last two years have lasted longer than a normal slump.

A #5 (center) and you can't get one with looks, you have to give something that looks good on paper as well as the floor.;)
