Yao Ming is a wimp, and no wimp ever lead a team to a championship. Second, I never said that LeBron would be better than MJ. What I said was that put LeBron on this team and take Yao off and the team is better. You can say what you want about a big man automatically bringin champioships, but Yao Ming hasn't even brought us an improvement of one single game over what we were doing before he got here. You can't debate that. Give me LeBron or Zach Randolph any day over a guy that is 7'5, passive, and doesn't even seem to give a damn. Has Yao ever looked the slightest bit upset about the Rockets losing a game? You know why? Because he doesn't really care. He really only cares about his national team. So maybe when you get your head out of the clouds and take off the rose colored glasses, you'll see we have a slightly above average big man and that's all he's ever going to be. Trade him. Get me someone in here that cares.
And you know Yao is a wimp from...? Is he afraid of dunking? Is he afraid of Shaq or what is it? Does he look upset when the lose, if you actually watched the game you would know yes. Even if he doesn't you have no clue whether he's upset or not. Some people are just introverts. Good big men win games, that's the unspoken law of basketball. Unless you got Jordan surrounded by a compatible team guards don't win championships. If you haven't figured that out already you should go watch some more games. What rose colored glasses? Yao's above average now just as Lebron is above average. Like I said, if you give Lebron the benefit of the doubt you better give Yao the benefit of the doubt, or you're just a hater (which you are). I criticized Yao too, but the reason I give him some more breaks is that he's been in the league for less than 1 and a 1/4 season AND is showing signs of improvement. I give Lebron the same breaks. Now let's look at your last points. I proved everyone of your points to be false so now you rely on "Yao is a wimp." That is just pathetic. Just admit you're a hater and get on with your life.
I think Yao should be traded to Golden State. Rockets can get a good trade package for Yao. I'm thinking 2 1st rounders and Mike Dunleavy. Both 1st rounders have to be unconditional since the Warriors should be in the lottery after this season. Dunleavy can immediately start at SF. Rockets will use their own lottery pick on a good passer who can shoot well. The lottery pick from the Warriors can be used for a solid big man who can backup Cato and Maurice. Yao will be happy. Golden State will be happy. Rockets will eventually be happy. Les won't be happy, but that's basketball.
If I can throw a cold dose of economics here. The undercurrent of this thread is that the Rox should try to trade Yao for Lebron. That isn't going to happen for more reasons than what they do on the court. Yao in terms of marketing is a cash cow for the Rox and they aren't likely to hand him over to another team. At the same time Lebron coming from Cleveland originally is a cash cow and a point of civic pride for the Cavs. Neither team ownership will go for a trade that does away with those side benefits.
Charvo, I'm starting to wonder if you're a troll. You've brought up repeatedly trade Yao to the Warriors. You can't honestly believe what the Warriors have is the best we can get for Yao.
Franchise...not a bash or anything but check my other thread as itll probably explain why yao is so passive. You know yao is not really this passive you can see it in the asian games. Even if its against that kind of competition you can atleast see he has it in him.
thats different...the spurs guards are nothing like our self-entitled franchise guard and mobley. They know how to make timely passes and parker is a pure point. They realize the benefits of a true inside out offense and set it up quickly. They dont waste half the time bringing it up court and then waste even more time dribbling it they just know how to run the inside out offense better its obvious.
If james were on this team what makes you think he'll get as many FGA on this team as he would on the cavs? Thats what happens when your the first scoring option on your team. Yao is the 3rd scoring option on the rockets and when you see him scoring 20 or so he wont get the ball anymore after that. Again he is still the 3rd option on this team the inside out offense has not even begun. What play calling? you mean the play calling where he sets a ton of screens and rolls wide open and doesnt get the ball? oh Ok I question you as a rocket fan is yao not a rocket? hes the You never support him and you bash him repitively even when he has had his good nights.
Besides Lebron would be a horrible fit for this team...thats why hes flourishing with the cavs hes surrounded by role players that want to compliment him. The difference i see between him and yao is that, Lebron right now can easily be shut down by good defenders, they are just laying off of him in defense forcing him to shoot his low % outside shot. Yao on the otherhand once he gets hot he wont be stopped. Once he gets his jump hook down itll be nearly damn unblockable.
it's sad but its true..... I am beginning to think that this is the best that yao can be. yao is dofter then my cottonalle issue.. boo hooo and as for the debate between Yao and Lebron.. honestly spekign ever1 on this site would(including al the YOF) would choose lebron over yao... and please dont give me tha t crab of saying they play different positions... lebron is light years ahead of yao in tallent and mentality. if the rox had the first pick this year leslie would choose lebron regardless of the number of rockets shirts he can sell in China. the fact of the story is that everyone opinion of yao is bout his potential... lets jus thope he can live up to hat potential.. no guts no glory
I'd still take Yao over Lebron in a heartbeat. While Lebron is a good player, Yao is just as good if not better. Yao is still being held back by Francis, like Lebron was with Davis. Now that Davis is gone, Lebron's game has gotten better. Same thing would happen with Yao if Francis got shipped out. He's the Rickey Davis of the Rox.
Anyone else notice how much the YOBs (Yao only bashers) have made this board. Not too long ago, this used to be the best sports board I found. Now that the YOBs are everywhere, I would rank this board below the espn boards....and have you ever been to the espn boards. The YOB threads should be locked....heck to be fair the Francis bashing threads should be locked too. Would make the boards better. The ignore feature is handy though. Already have about 10 YOBs on my ignore list, which makes the boards a bit better to read.
Damn, if you're gonna say that Lebron on this team and Yao off it would be better, then I'm gonna say that Lebron on this team and Francis off it is hell of a lot better. All the things you said about Yao could be said about Francis. What the hell has Francis done for this team in the last 4 years? I'm just tired of the horrid kind of basketball this team is playing. I don't know, I don't care anymore, trade either Francis or Yao or whoever, let's just see if anything changes.
It's not SF that blocks his shots repeatedly. It's not SF that pushes him around in the lane. It's not SF that makes him flop and fall to the ground all the time. It's not SF that makes him a mediocre rebounder for his size. It's not SF that makes him tired in the first five minutes of every game. So I don't see how Steve is holding Yao back.
More words of wisdom fro Juugie. It's not Yao that makes him travel 4 times a game. It's not Yao that makes him turnover the ball every other possession. It's not Yao that makes him a lousy shooter that takes boneheaded shots. It's not Yao that makes him not being able to make a good pass to save his life. It's not Yao that makes him not able to run a fastbreak. It's not Yao that makes him dribble the ball off his foot. It's not Yao that makes him not improve for 5 years. It's not Yao that prevented him from winning in the last 4 years. Yeah Francis is a real star. Bottom line, 2nd year 23 yr old players get breaks showing improvements get breaks. 5th year 27 yr old players that don't improve don't. I have trashed every one of your pathetic excuses yet you still show your face around here. You are more persistent than I thought.
You said Steve was holding Yao back, but you couldn't refute not even one of my points. You defend Yao by putting down Steve. Great logic. Say what you want about Steve, but no one ever called him soft or a wimp. Maybe we can trade Yao to the Comets for Tina Thompson. She's tougher than he is.
Oops, trading Yao to the Comets wouldn't work because then Sheryl Swoopes would be holding him back. Maybe someday someone will let Yao be a good player. Until then, I guess we have to wait.
I said Steve was holding Yao back, I backed it up with stats, records, mistakes (see above). You have yet to show one reason that Steve deserves to be traded less than Yao that I haven't trashed within 10 seconds. OK no one called Steve a wimp, he's moron. There I said it. Happy? Yes let's trade Yao to the Comets. Tina Thompson can't miss a layup any worse than the rest of this team. So go ahead.
