Probably the same with even crazier structures. You ever think think that they are building these stuctures because their oil is drying up? Gotta find a way to make money after their oil is gone.
Why anyone would go to a place with such outlandish laws is beyond my comprehension. You couldn't pay me to visit that hell on earth. http://travel.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/travel/news/article3333905.ece http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article2169905.ece “The presence of drugs in the body is counted as possession,” the Foreign Office cautions. In other words, travel-lers can be jailed even if they have no drugs on them: a trace in the blood-stream of a drug consumed before entering the UAE is enough to secure a jail term. Such was the fate of an 18-year-old Egyptian boy who smoked a cigarette containing hashish a day before he flew to the UAE this year. Traces of the drug were found in his blood and he was jailed in April by a court in the emirate of Fujairah for four years. Those who dabble with recreational drugs are also advised to ensure that no particles are left on their clothes or luggage before travelling. A British man aged 25 was jailed for four years in June for possession of 0.07 grams of mar1juana a little over two-thou-sandths of an ounce which was found in his trouser pocket, local press reports said. Also in his pocket were what a newspaper termed “two hardly noticeable slivers of hashish”.
F'it, let the haters hate, it's all they know. Dubai I bet that's going to get really ugly when the oil dries up Spoiler Blue water is something I would love to swim in, unlike Galveston's swamp. And ofcourse, our lovable YOUstone.
What haters?! Why do you keep saying that? I saw 1 post saying he wouldn't go to Dubai if someone paid him. I'm not hating, I like Dubai. Too expensive, I go to Baharain for my western get away....(KSA 4 life. :| )
Simple solution... I won't go to a pretty monarchy with medieval laws. Everyone else go ahead. I'll pass. And it isn't "hating" Dubai, it is hating such draconian laws that the ruling class flaunt with impunity, which is why Dubai can even have this kind of bizarre society. The buildings, the man made islands, and the world's second underwater hotel all look very cool, however. Me? I'll take the messy freedoms and democracy of the Netherlands, the messy freedoms, democracy, and monarchy of Great Britain, the crazy Italians, the French, with their ego and their wonderful country, the Germans and their hip capital, the Swiss, who's trains really run on time and who have one of the most gorgeous countries on Earth, and yes, good old fun and dirty Houston, Texas.
Don't like the laws in Dubai? Go to Saudi! <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/CKKeu_wcA7E&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/CKKeu_wcA7E&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object> brought to you by the Saudi Arabia department of motor vehicle tourism.
I'm not gonna quote it for you. Just scroll back/up. Why are people acting like it's not expensive to travel to nice sceneries? Yes mam...hmm 99 was a good year, I take that back. Yes sir. /
Dubai is a beautiful city, and I understand you're trying to make a point, but you show amazing pictures of Dubai probably taken by a professional with a camera that costs several G's. The picture of Houston looks like it was taken with a camera phone...a bad camera phone.
Didn't I read an article on here about some French tourists getting raped and the government accusing the victims of being homosexuals? I'm more ignorant on the issue than hating...
