You have to enjoy the journey, Max. (can't stop believing...). Stop for smelly roses and all that. Only one team gets a parade...so you better enjoy the 80+ games before May. Rocket's were better than I expected this year. Better results, and better to watch. This stat was cool. But....more in a curious business stat sort of way...as I don't think it translates into better ticket prices, or even better results. Though it does stop your team from being swept off to Oklahoma and gives yet another good laugh at the Knick's expense.
I don't disagree with what you say. But it takes time and good management to achieve winning. Just a couple of years ago, we didn't have much to trade for anything. Now we have a ton of assets. It is fine cheering for progress even though the end result has not been achieved. Look at it this way. Do you refrain from cheering a good play in a game because you tell yourself, "Hey, we haven't won yet. Why are we cheering?" To me, and I think to every sports fan, the struggle toward winning is as much part of the fun as the winning itself.
With you 100%. I did enjoy this season. I love watching a team gut it out like they did. Love it. Proud they're my team, no doubt. So I'm not suggesting that's it. I'm saying GM's keep their jobs because their teams win...because they build championship contenders. We're waiting on that still. And yes, I realize injury played a gigantic role in that going in...I also realize it was an injury to a guy who is always injured.
I don't mean to come off Debbie Downer enough for you to need to write this....this is where you'd understand me a ton better over a beer than a message board. To the extent it sounds like I'm downing Morey....I'm not. I think he's doing a good job. I'm just not at full tilt like most of the folks here.
This is me too. I think he's done a good job, but it hasnt yielded anything. Kupchak went from bum to genius in 4 yrs. He traded shaq with good yrs left for 2 upside guys and a contract. Then he traded caron for a sign and trade for kwame. In between that he's getting killed by kobe in the media. He turned kwame, gasol, and picks into pau. How did he do it? We dont see magic formulas or anyone writing articles about him. I dont know how they go from being in the lotto after the 05 season to being on their way to 3 nba finals. What does the rox have to show in those same 5 yrs? 1 series win and not even in the same zip code as a contender. I'm not saying madmax feels the same way i do, but its always if's with us or someone else got lucky.
