Lol at people here wanting something back in return for Head.

People bashed him, and he was injured, making him hard to trade. What could we get for him, realistically?

Classy move by the Rockets letting him go and giving him an opportunity to latch on somewhere.

For all his faults, he was more then servicable. Besides the playoffs and him being forced to play out of position, point, he was money shooting the 3 ball.

    that's pretty funny. :D

but CBA don't lack shooters, what they want are man beasts that can bang under the basket.

A little more than 24 hours to get picked up by a playoff team does not constitute classy in my book, thats like getting laid off the day after Xmas rather than Xmas. I hope his agent knew this was coming and got another deal for him necessitating his release, that would be classy.

As long as you're released before 3/1 he can latch onto a playoff team and be eligible for the playoffs. He doesn't have to sign by tomorrow.

The alternative was the Rockets keeping him aboard, releasing him in the offseason, and then hoping somebody signs him, since he's a FA this offseason.

This way he can latch on hopefully, showcase himself, and sign a better deal when the time comes.

Don't be like a baby! Wish you well, Luther. You hit some big shots 2 seasons ago.

    Good riddance, Luther.

You gave us a few good seasons, but I wish you would've shown up in the playoffs last year.

The only reason I can imagine the Rockets doing this is if they plan to sign someone else. Otherwise, we probably could have gotten something in the off- season. They must believe we are about to sign someone of greater value.

    Godspeed Luther ... :)

Our backcourt is completely different now. It used to be Airballston, TSlack and Head. Wow.

I thought Luther fit the roster a bit better once they got rid of the other combo guard they never used - Francis, Steve.

Luther seemed to play pretty better when TMac was out because the Rockets would run more. I thought he might do alright with Brooks/Lowry and the improved running game if a wing in the rotation went down.

GM Daryl Morey was just on with Craig Ackerman during the pregame show and he acknowledged the release was mutual and he also said they have a couple of players they have their eye on that they might sign in the next day or two.

We can't get anything for Luther in the offseason, because if nobody wanted him at the deadline, who's going to want him in the offseason?

Yes, he'll be healthy in the offseason, but from here on out where does he get minutes?

    He doesn't.

Thus, nobody would want to give up anything for him. Why would they, as, Head hasn't shown anything as of late.
