Just realized they released him and they are playing in Chicago tonight. Isn't that where Luther is from?
It was sure nice of them to give him one full day to be picked up by a team and be eligible for the playoffs............
Good for Luther & the Rox. Luther gets to play for some one who can hopefully sign him to a new contract & the Rox get to pick up another player who RA might put into the rotation.
I hope he doesn't sign w/ dallas or Utah. I'd hate to have to hate a former rockets that busted his butt off for our team. He just didn't fit our system. He needs to go somewhere that has a good point guard or a team that plays no D and only focuses on O
luther was hurt during the trade dealine so he coundnt be moved and no he didnt pull a tmac, lol oh that was harsh im sorry.
Don't think you get a pick for this guy. Not when he is a non-rotation player and not when he has only a few months left on his contract. Only value he has to another team would be as an expiring contract if Rockets were willing to take on a longer deal. I don't see any other teams getting a mid to high 2nd round pick for an out of the rotation player. Do you remember any examples?
Wow, I'm really surprised. Luther wasn't exactly worthless. So we're paying him nearly $2 million to play for another team? I thought we could at least get a future 2nd from someone. He put up decent numbers in his second season. I always thought he lost confidence in his game, and never got it back. Worth having as a 12th man, unless we're wanting a spot open. Guess we want a spot open.
Please get Cassel. He may not play much but I bet you anything he's going to make Lowry and Brooks better players. Also would be nice for Sam to return to Houston and pick up another ring.
well now that the trade deadline has passed and he has an expiring contract, the only options were make him sit on the bench for the rest of the year or cut him before the deadline that he could still join another playoff team (if anyone wants him). this was probably the nicer option since we could no longer get anything for him.
I actually liked Luther's game... An underrated off the ball mover... He just didn't improve in ball handling and finishing strong. Good luck Luther to wherever you go!
I think he would fit in good with the Cavs or the Magic...both play a half court offense and his stand still 3point shooting can be best utilized on those teams.
That, or maybe Morey wants to do Luther (and his agent) a small favor at little cost to his team. You know, good will and good karma, etc. Luther is about to be a free agent, and it would help him if he gets on a squad that would give him some burn. Should be interesting to see if the team is looking at anyone in particular, though.... Joe Smith might be an easy answer. Seems every team likes him and he fits the needs for a backup big who can both defend the paint and hit some shots. Our backup bigs either can't score at all (Deke) or aren't paint-stoppers (Landry Scola) or both (Chuck).
