It's been the most bizarre subplot of the year, Clutchfans utterly turning on him when he's really basically doing what he's done all season.

I mean, he's had his bad moments. But on balance he's doing fine, the team defense is the problem.

They'll give you Matt Barnes stats because they had to put James [defensively] on the weakest player on the court. :)

So if he keeps on scoring in a blowout, he's stat padding and it doesn't mean sxxt. If he becomes passive and doesn't score, he's a quitter. Oh well, h8ers gon h8 I guess

why mchale left him on the court in the 4th while we're trailing by 30 is hard to comprehend, isnt it.

“Someone created the box score, and he should be shot.”

I've admittedly been extremely hard on Harden this series. Taking a step back and looking at the situation with no emotions he's not playing all that bad. It's the lack of aggression that's gets me

What did Morey say about the person who created the box score? Yeah...

This is what I've been saying all along. This Clippers series is not on Harden, it's been on his team mates severely under performing all around. Harden should be averagin 10+ more assists per game with all the open shots he gets them.

He's been putting up numbers in the post season. The only thing I can complain about is his ****ing TOs. He's been turning the ball over like crazy. It doesn't help that his teammates can't catch or shoot so of course it looks worse for Harden.

All I am saying is stats dont matter, wins do. The best player of a championship team has an obligation to bring out the best of all of their teammates and he has not done that so far. The are playing with more energy tonight but its about sustaining it.

This is such a surface deep level of understanding basketball. You have to understand the timing of when he gets his stats as far as the flow of the game. Also his aggression and how that affects team success. You also have to take into account his negative stats like turnovers and how many defensive mistakes he has committed. The eye test tells you that he has been pedestrian by his usual standards. I think most of rockets fans are disappointed because we want to believe in Harden. Nobody is arguing that he has not been fairly effective in this years' playoffs. He's proven that he can be a really good player. We want to see evidence of him being able to be the best player on a true championship contender team. Unfortunately when you are of Harden's level, you are only measured by greatness, whether that expectaion is fair or not. This is what I think most Rox fans would agree on about Harden.

    Austin rivers' name has
Been changed THREE times in LA.

So long as that's happening regularly, I have no interest in
    Box scores

So making a critique about Harden's lack of engagement or defensive focus means that we must also believe he is a poor offensive player?

    Updated stats (rounded)

    25 points, 9 assist (5 turnovers), 6 rebounds, 1 steal, shooting 45/37/93 in 37 minutes per game.

He isn't going full Kobe/Westbrook with 40 point performances. But he's been as solid as ever this season. He's been putting up the same numbers the whole series, the big difference tonight was his teammates performances and the the teams overall mentality and focus.

Aside from turnovers, Harden's been great. Difference tonight was he got some consistent help from multiple guys.

    Good win.
