Aren't there laws against harassment/stalking etc?

It could be harrassment but unless there were multiple acts of it you probably wouldn't have a case.

My son was having a mild meltdown once at Walmart. There was a grandmother with her grandson who made sure she said it loud enough for all around to hear. "Jimmy, you don't want to act like that boy". My wife just turned around, smiled and said "and you don't want to be Autistic either".

We get remarks and looks equally from parents of both sexes.

First, thanks Granville - your post was awesome and something I am going to think about all day.

As far as the story itself - it's just sad that people are so knowingly hurtful. I hear unknowingly hurtful comments all the time - my son has a genetic metabolic disorder called PKU and I lost my first child (a daughter). Sometimes people (with good intentions) ask what is wrong with my son (his diet is extremely restrictive) and sometimes tell me how lucky I am that I have a son and not a daughter, and that kind of stuff hurts for a few days. But for someone to intentionally say something with the intent to hurt someone (even if it is just someone trolling anonymously) is disgusting.

Anyone can see why this was wrong, but I think that parents feel the hurt a little more acutely.

My first impression when reading this was that it was fake. I honestly find it hard to believe that someone would write something that elaborate, especially a mom. If they really wanted to be a d**k about it, they would've written a simple note saying something along the lines of "get your r***** son to stop making whale noises out here it's annoying". But to go that far in writing the letter, I call fake.

Thought this might be a nice positive turn from the original letter in this topic.
