Chron reports the players felt bad about the trades. They should really feel bad that the lack of interest in them mean we are a very mediocre team. Their bad performance has hurt the organization big-time. They should not point fingers but look at themselves.

Interesting that Lowry said he will campaign to get Shane back. But silent about AB. Haha Rockets, admit the truth. We need to start looking to the future.

Not unless we get drastically better. I don't want the guy to end his career a loser, he needs to go to a contender other than LA...Dare I say NY? I think he would add a lot to that team, he is a system guy, d'antoni is too, he can guard the 2's or 2's allowing him to start along side melo, Fields off the bench.

If Shane was in the Rockets' plans he would not have been traded. Get over it.

He'll find his way back before the year is over.

    Lowry wants Battier back

Kyle Lowry had completed his media session. There were no more questions asked of him. He had one more point to make, however.
“We need to get Shane (Battier) back next year,” Lowry said after the first practice since Battier was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies. “That’s my plan. I want him back. He does so much for our team, leadership, everything we possibly need. I hope he comes back. I hope they bring him back next year. I want him back. The coaching staff wants him back. I told him I was going to start something to try to get him back next year.”
Center Chuck Hayes, who is expected to join Lowry in taking on Battier’s leadership responsibilities, joined the cause.
“I would love to have Shane back,” Hayes said. He is a free agent this summer. He keeps his house here. Why not work here, too.”

If you don't want Battier back, you don't value leadership, poise and hustle.

He'll sign with a contending team for sure. He'd be stupid to sign with us again. And the shaner is not stupid.

His wife is pregnant and staying here in Houston, he has a home and a kid and dogs here.

Shane doesn't care about going to a contender, he just wants to go to a winning organization. Even if they are rebuilding, as long as it's moving in the right direction, Shane will be happy.

He said on the radio he could care less about a ring. He won a championship in college and it was nice in the moment, but it didn't define his life.

Would love to see him and Chuck coach the Rockets one day.

We can title our posts now?

I'm a huge Battier fan and definitely want him back, but there's no way the Rockets should retire his jersey. You need to be a lot better player than Shane Battier to have your jersey retired. It's a moot point though. I think he'll go to a contender, and if I had to predict, San Antonio.

It goes to show that a lot of fans just don't understand what Battier meant to the team.

The team wasn't producing and when that happens in professional sports people get moved. Even 32 year old "character guys" who best days are behind them. It's the nature of the beast. Guys remember, the greatest player in the history of Houston sports (Olajuwon) got traded. Why did they think that anyone on this team was going to be immune?

Maybe we can do a sign and trade with the Griz in the offseason and send them another lottery pick! It is Shane Battier after all, anything less than a lottery pick would be an insult.

Based on what he was traded for recently, the GMs dont seem to understand either.
