No, because he'll probably get fat and slow now that he has the big K. I'd rather get guys like this at the tail end of their fat contracts, when they're hungry for the next paycheck.
I think this is an interesting point. The current CBA has been around for a few years. Yet NO OTHER TEAM has ever let out a 2nd round pick early in any sort of a wink-wink deal. This is an unique situation. It's not like all the 2nd round stars are suddenly all screwed now because of Boozer. Because no other team so far has been stupid enough to let a player screw them like this. So please don't talk about how there are going to be no more trust between management and players. There weren't much trust to begin, and there won't be in the future. In the grand scheme of NBA things, this is nothing.
I am pretty sure his reputation is not permanently harmed. Plenty of people have done bad things and then later made up for it.
i dont think his reputation is tainted. the cavs took a gamble, they got burned. high risk = high reward. the reward is not having to pay boozer 28+ million or so like they wouldve been forced to after this season.
First, I don't want him at that Utah contract price, 'cause they're overpaying him. Second, he's a lying SOB who cares more about dollar signs than honor and integrity. You think that's the kind of person who could be an integral part of a championship dynasty?
Contract negotiations are a tough business, none of us really knows what was said and what wasn't. I would take him in a heartbeat. DD
First off, what does honor and integrity have to do with winning a championship? This is so irrelevant. So, yes, a player who busts his ass on the court regardless of if he goes after money or not, can still win a championship.
Life is a tough business, none of us really knows if OJ killed anybody. War is a tough business, none of us really knows if there are WMDs. Being president is tough business, none of us really knows if Clinton had sexual relations with that woman. Give me a break! Use your BRAIN to come to a conclusion as to what happened with Boozer.
i vote no. why? i like to like players on the rockets. i do not like boozer. i'd turn town karl malone for the same reason. can't stand him. even if he were healthy and productive. i'd tell him not to let the door hit him on the way out.
You know what's insane to me? Jason Kidd has been arrested for beating his wife. Rueben Patterson is a registered sex offender. How many players have been arrested for drunk driving? How many have been arrested for assault? We're talking felony charges here and yet most of these incidents recieved very little attention. Carlos Boozer allegedly weasels his way out of a hand shake for 28 million more dollars and he's a scum bag? Are you guys really serious? Hell, Kobe Bryant is awaiting trial for rape and he's the most sought after free agent of the summer but Carlos Boozer, what a degenerate piece of filth. It's amazing.
mj was an adulterer. thats not what i call honor and integrity. but he would be first or 2nd in my fantasy draft, either him or wilt.
True True again. Until it was admitted, you are correct. Assumption is a bad thing Mr. Clutch. Never ASS - U - ME anything. This was not the intent of this thread, only to ascertain as to whether his reputation was permanently damaged, and as to nearly 70% of the people saying they would take him, my guess is that the numbers would rise as this incident hits the rearview mirror. As to what I think? I think Boozer implied that he would stay, and got let out of his deal, then the Jazz hit him with an incredible offer, one that he could not turn down, and thus he took it. I have no problem with it, he made a GOOD business decision. DD
Okay DaDA, you 1) Don't know if OJ murdered anyone. 2) Think there still might be WMD's in Iraq. and 3) Didn't believe Bill Clinton had an affair until he admitted it. But I'M naive?? Okay, I'm risking this going off topic. I'll just say that I agree with your premise that people will forget what Boozer did, but I still think it was wrong!
Boozer is really good. Top notch rebounder with skills and a really high shooting percentage. Any team would be nuts not to sign him. I don't know what happened in the negotiation process but if available I would hope we steal him from the evil Jazz.
So essentially you are saying it's now OK to be a scumbag. Give me a break. This lowest common denominator crap annoys me. There all losers and scumbags - just to different degrees (don't forget there are several circles of hell in Dante's Inferno).
