See, that's just it: I believe Yao is the single hardest worker on this team, and you only need to look as far as JVG's constant praise of the man's work ethics, so that's NOT the problem.

The problems with Yao, IMO, are not something he'll have much success improving upon, and that's why I tend to ask people to just accept him for what he is and just live with it. And yes, he's still a pretty good player regardless of all his faults.

Let's adjust our collective expectations of what Yao can do, and then we won't hear as much whining about him after every game.

Yao is Yao, and he's what we got, we just need to figure out how to best fit him into a team concept along with McGrady, and that's all we can do.

You got the point!!!As long as we can win every game, who cares if yao making an all-star or not!!!But we all spoiled Yao since his rookie year when he beats Shaq as an all-star starter. We need Yao to prove by him-self that he belongs there, not oversea voting.

I won't, I like Yao since his rookie year, but I don't think he belongs to all star team this season.

Everybody assumes Yao gets voted in because of the Chineese vote.

I read somewhere last season that Yao received a relatively small amount of his votes from overseas. The majority of his votes originated from w/ in the U.S.

Unfortunately, I can't find that source. All I found was the International voting increased 14%.

He is the best center in the west. Others are not even close.

    Camby : 17 Points 14 Rebounds 3.3BLOCKS. on 56.3 % field goal.

Yao-18 points 9.1 Rebounds 1.7 Blocks. on 47.0% field goal.

some people need to be more objective. camby is having a much better year then yao. yao maybe more talented, uptil now, it's fair to say that camby is the better big man.

some people need to realize that yao will always start on the all-star team as long as he is in the nba.

You guys make it sound like Yao was some scrub.

It will be really funny if Yao was not voted all star, especially since the all star game is held in Houston, it will be a slap on the face for all Rockets' fans.

Yao is an allstar every year, all haters can just bang their heads on the wall and wake up and realize there's no way Yao's gonna be missing the all star game.

He's putting in the work, he's tried his best to carry his team despite playing to his weaknesses not to his strength the way JVG's using him (btw, JVG is forced to do that with TMac out). He deserves respect and loyalty from real Rockets' fans.

You guys can say Camby or Amare is good and all, but find another good big man plays as many games as Yao does in recent memory, many of them missed some games due to injury, many of the big men are one dimensional, while Yao was asked to do well both defensively and carry his team in offense.

So far camby outplayed Yao, no doubt. Just see if he can last the whole season, which I highly doubt he could even with a healthy Carmelo Anthony and KMart to score, he could just concentrate on defense.

I have not seem a big man like Yao being so damn unlucky being on a depleted team with people knowing the easiest way to beat Houston is send 3 guys on Yao.

I don't know why people (especially some Rockets fans) being so unsupported and unappreciated of the work Yao put in. Of course it's the trend that blame it all on Yao without rationally understanding things. ("Let's go blame Canada for every bad things we done")

I will wait until February. If he solves his problem at that time, he is still the best center in west. Otherwise, it would be shame for him to play all-star.

I think this is a common misconception. It isn't that the league is moving away from a big man game, it's that Shaq had such an impact on the league that the league is just now returning to normal. For years every team has been pointlessly scrambling for an answer to Shaq when there is no answer to Shaq. Centers have gotten bigger, stronger and slower in the process. Then everybody has complained that there aren't any quality big men anymore, meanwhile all the quality big men are playing powerforward. If this were 1990-1995, not only would Amare Stoudamire and Dwight Howard be proto-typical centers, but Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett and Dirk Nowitski would probably all be playing center too. The NBA isn't going away from a big man game, it's going back to the big man game it knew before Shaq.

Are you really going to tell me Amare, Dwight Howard and Brad Miller are so very different from Olajuwon, David Robinson and Patrick Ewing?

it's a toss up between yao and dampier, the 2nd best center in the west...

the all star game is based on popularity and doesn't deserve any credence or credibility, it's a marketing ploy
