Good Lord, you're dense. Do you honestly think that the United States government, in all of its power that you so admire and wish to uphold, would allow the presidential candidate of one of the major political parties to go this far without being an American citizen? Do you really believe that they've just been sitting around, twiddling their thumbs, procrastinating on this type of thing? Or is this a conspiracy that extends to the highest levels of State Department and intelligence agencies whose assemblage would prove fault in your hero George W. Bush's judgment?

Judge rejects Montco lawyer's bid to have Obama removed from ballot

A federal judge in Philadelphia last night threw out a complaint by a Montgomery County lawyer who claimed that Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama was not qualified to be president and that his name should be removed from the Nov. 4 ballot.

Philip J. Berg alleged in a complaint filed in federal district court on Aug. 21 against Obama, the Democratic National Committee and the Federal Election Commission, that Obama was born in Mombasa, Kenya.

Berg claimed that the Democratic presidential standardbearer is not even an American citizen but a citizen of Indonesia and therefore ineligible to be president.

He alleged that if Obama was permitted to run for president and subsequently found to be ineligible, he and other voters would be disenfranchised.

U.S. District Judge R. Barclay Surrick had denied Berg's request for a temporary restraining order on Aug. 22 but had not ruled on the merits of the suit until yesterday.

Obama and the Democratic National Committee had asked Surrick to dismiss Berg's complaint in a court filing on Sept. 24.

They said that Berg's claims were "ridiculous" and "patently false," that Berg had "no standing" to challenge the qualifications of a candidate for president because he had not shown the requisite harm to himself.

Surrick agreed.

In a 34-page memorandum and opinion, the judge said Berg's allegations of harm were "too vague and too attenuated" to confer standing on him or any other voters.

Surrick ruled that Berg's attempts to use certain laws to gain standing to pursue his claim that Obama was not a natural-born citizen were "frivolous and not worthy of discussion."

The judge also said the harm Berg alleged did "not constitute an injury in fact" and Berg's arguments to the contrary "ventured into the unreasonable."

For example, Berg had claimed that Obama's nomination deprived citizens of voting for Sen. Hillary Clinton in November. (Berg backed Clinton in the primaries.)

Berg could not be reached for comment last night.

Obama was born in Honolulu on Aug. 4, 1961, and the campaign posted a document issued by Hawaii on its Web site, fight thesmears.com, confirming his birth there.

Berg said in court papers that the image was a forgery.

The nonpartisan Web site FactCheck.org examined the original document and said it was legitimate.

The McCain Camp said they checked into it and there is nothing to it. If John McCain isn't making issue of it why should anyone else. That being said As of today no one has yet seen Obama's original birth certificate; the certificate Obama has plastered over the Internet is not his original birth certificate or even a copy of his original certificate. It is a computer generated facsimile of an official record that has been discredited by a least 3 independent studies conducted by nationally acclaimed forensic experts.

Senator Obama’s 1961 Hawaii certificate of live birth would look the same. Unlike the document he has on his website. So why doesn’t senator Obama just release his original birth certificate for public scrutiny and immediately put this matter to rest? Instead after his hawaii trip suddenly Hawaii's Gov. Linda Lingle has placed the candidate's birth certificate under seal, and instructed the state's Department of Health to make sure no one in the press obtains access to the original document under any circumstances. The only person who can request a seal is the the Guardians listed on the BC or the person on the birth certificate. But again if John mcCain doesn't question his citizenship than what is there to hide?

 

Oh, it's coordinated. Instead of giving anyone from the "other team" a shot to unite the country and get something done, the most craven and selfish are coordinating to make sure they open a huge can of whambulance to delegitimize any Obama victory, be it narrow or large.

So we know that you are coordinating with Rush, Hannity, Hagee, FOX "news," Bachmann, Cheney, and the rest of your lovely crowd to start undermining an Obama presidency well before it possibly exists.

So, T_J, why do you, and others of your political persuasion, spend so much copious time and venom obsessing about debunked details of Obama instead of spending a shred of time extolling the virtues of your candidate? Is it because you all are not truly fans of Senator McCain? Is it because, sensibly, you are embarrassed by his eratic campaign message and his selecting a liability as a running mate? Or could it be because you recognize that his positions do not deviate appreciably from the unpopular policies of the current administration?
