I wish the NBA would amnesty the Hawks, Pacers, Raptors, and a couple others and give it to a more deserving city.

Can't do it until July 1 anyway, so let's see how it plays out.

I actually don't mind Joe Johnson's game, just not at that contract. Was there really any other team offering Joe anywehre near the money that the Hawks gave him? Seems like they were just bidding against themselves.

They were bidding against the Knicks. I believe they offered him 100mil and the chance to play with Amare. Then the Hawks topped the offer with a max contract stupidly.

I just hope the GM stays there long enough for my nephew to sign his 100 million$ contract.... He's only a frosh at Virginia as a 4th stringer though...*crosses fingers*

amnestying him at this point wouldn't be smart because who's to say how much a team would be willing to sign him for. What if he signs a 1 million dollar a year deal. It's probably better to find a team willing to deal with that salary whose desperate like new york and get some cap relief.

The Chris Johnson of the NBA.

Note to self. Pay a Johnson max money based on past performance... don't expect full effort afterwards.

i would wait till the end of this season. give this team one last shot, esp with the mcgrady signing. who knows, they could get lucky..and injury here and there to an opponent and they really could find themselves in th e eastern conference finals. so..i'd say hold on to him for the remainder of this season, if its an early exit in the playoffs...AMNESTY THE b**** ASS

If they do amnesty him, he would be a great pickup at a reduced cost on the amnesty wire.

Though if I were the Hawks, I'd only amnesty him if they had a deal arranged to get someone better with that cap space. No reason to do it otherwise.

Watch. The Hawks are gunna dump Joe Johnson in a year or two. He's getting paid 22 million a year and he's not even playing like an all-star. The Hawks' GM is very very very smart (sarcasm)
