Where do I sign? A few years ago that would be an inconceivable trade. Today, if this trade went through, Toronto would be the reincarnation of NY (circa Isaiah Thomas era).
Yeah, think about it, the Raptors led by Bosh are playoffs juggernauts. They have gone to the second round of the playoffs how many times? If Yao is traded for Bosh we are headed for the TMac era II.
Totally agree with you and DD on this one.... Right now Yao is like the mystery meat in a prison dinner... You have no ideal of what you are going to get
Basketball-wise, with Yao's situation in the air, yes. But all things considered, including ticket sales and the China factor business-wise, it's Yao in a no-brainer, which is what I voted.
Until Bosh gets shoe endorsements for his role playing bench players and 200 million watch Bosh in a pre-season game, you do not trade straight up for Yao... or ever.
We don't know what we are going to get from Yao. But I do feel I know what we are going to get from Bosh-----------------------an even softier loser. No bosh please.
I know one thing, Toronto might actually like that deal on their side. Yao might actually be little cheaper at this point than Bosh, while they could not possibly get any worse with Yao Ming, if he's injured. While, they'd actually might win more games with Yao Ming, instead of Chris Bosh. Also, Yao is near the end of his deal, as Bosh is in need of new one. Toronto would have a large expiring salary on their side, which means they could be big in next year's free agent market. The Raptors in the last 4 seasons have managed to win 40, 33, 41, and 47 games, which is not anything to write home about by any means. That's only 40 wins a season and two one and done playoff appearance. I think there's few players in this league he could come into Toronto equal that total or more victories. C - Yao Ming (or say Andrew Bynum, which is more realistic) PF - Andrea Barganani (who is an ideal outside shooter SF - Hedo Turkoglu SG - D.DeRozan PG - Jose Calderon M.Belinelli R.Evans J.Jack R.Nesterovic A.Johnson They would also be in the market for Paul George, Xavier Henry, or Avery Bradley. Without Yao Ming, that team would be in running for the 8th seed or at worst slightly worse than they are now (which is not saying much). Though with Yao, later in the season, they might could move up to 5th at best (maybe 4th) depends on his health. With Bynum, it would be more definite, since he would probably cherish the opportunity to go to a team like Toronto, where he can be unquestioned main guy. He's probably not the same caliber player as Bosh, but overall he effects the game much more than Bosh does (whose numbers would fall wherever he goes). ABcould easily become a yearly 20-10 players, especially if he is getting touches or the team is running the offense through him. Most of all, playing in the Eastern conference. More so than, sharing touches with Gasol, Artest, Odom, and most of all, Kobe. Bosh might be a better player in few areas and few years younger, but he still does not effect the game, like Yao (or the Lakers' big man) does or any other well-rounded center in this league. Which is another reason why Toronto could possibly improve, if they received a center, like say Andrew Bynum. Would he even want to come here, if Yao was not on the roster? Irony is, we would still need a backup center and a fairly good post defender/shot blocking presence. We still may not be an elite team at that point. Toronto could get better in either deal with Yao or Bynum, much quicker than they could Bosh. For one, more salary flexibility in the future for the Raptors. Another thing, they essentially have the opportunity to put together a better overall team. While, Bosh is a good player again, though I have to say I do not think he really effects the game as much as people would like to believe. If they cannot win at least 45 games in the East and make multiple playoff appearance, what's the point having a player, like Bosh in the long run. THe Raptors only won 33 games last year with him and 40 this past season. Even with a player, like Yao or Bynum that might be MIA in the season for a point in the season, they'd still be winning about the same amount of games with Bosh. But, if those players play in most of games (65+) with their normal production, the Raptors would be a slightly better to exponentially better team than they are with Bosh. Adding Yao or AB with another 7 foot body with a few capable backup bigs, like Rasho Nesterovic and Amir Johnson. Gives the Raptors more of what they do not have, good solid paint defender and a player who is good offensive post player. Those are two things, not found in Chris Bosh. Also, attitude wise, I think the other two might be a little bit more committed and less inclined to fade against a good team. The Raptors would also have player who could deal with bigs, like Andrew Bogut, the Celtics frontline, and most of all, Dwight Howard. Both players, especilaly Yao play very well against Dwight Howard. From what I've seen, I think both players are slightly more competitive than Bosh. Also, they've never been called RuPaul by Shaq. I'd even say that both players have his respect and have gotten best him in several games. The Raptors can score alot of points with or without Bosh as it stands now, they've got deadly shooters everywhere (Turkoglu, Calderon, and Barganani). and they like to run. It would change the pace a bit getting a quality center, but the team would improve defensively, get more offensive rebounds, and have good open looks. Toronto would be the kind team that would destroy a zone defense, or fronting a player like Yao. Since, they've got two really good passers in the starting lineup (Turkoglu and Calderon). With an explosive penetrating two guard, the Raptors could become a more than capable playoff team that could challenge for 2nd round spot.
Please. Every GM in the league would this deal if it were just about basketball. Yao was probably the most inconsistent "superstar" post player in the league and that's when he was healthy (which was about half the time BEFORE he missed this entire season). Both at full strength and in their prime, I give Yao a slight edge because of his ability to defend the paint but hasn't been healthy or in his prime for some time and logic dictates that his best years are behind him. Meanwhile, at the age of 29, he has one second round appearance under his belt thanks to Aaron Brooks and Ron Artest.
Hell yes. A player that's on the court vs. one that sits on the bench for most of the past 5 years? A no-brainer really. After that, we can go after the King like mentioned in that other fantasy thread.
at least that contract would be expiring if it doesn't work out. For it to be Isaiah level boneheadedness They would have to extend him a max contract over the next 6 years. . . and they would throw in Turkgolu for Jefferies.
They might be equal value. Bosh may even be worth more by virtue of his being younger and less prone to injury. But, we need to have Bosh and Yao together, or why bother at all? A team led by Bosh/Martin/Brooks isn't going anywhere. Put Yao in and it might. If we're really saying Yao is done, blow up the team and start over.
Yes, I will trade Yoa for Bush (haha), but I will trade Brooks for Bosh first because his trade value is at all time high, and we can get Bosh and Bush or whoever for a better player.
Must be a lot of YOFs voting in this poll. I'm tired of people saying "when Yao is healthy" in every single thread about Yao. These are the facts: • Yao did not help the team win last year, and is the least dependable "star" in the NBA. • Bosh is younger than Yao and will be in his prime for at least 5 years, while Yao is already on the decline due to age, not even counting his injury. • Yao will be lucky to play 30 MPG next year, Rockets will be ecstatic if he plays 65+ games as well, if Bosh played 65 games and 30 MPG next year for any team, it would be considered a DISAPPOINTMENT.
I don't even care if Yao is healthy or not..We can find a center after we trade for Bosh. Yao will be on the decline soon if not already. We have the chance of being worse next year than with Yao, but when we find a legit center...We'll definitely be better.
