I think Rockets realize that they need more penetrators. We have enough shooters already at this point (Brooks, Berry, Shane, Artest, Wafer, etc...) Maybe signing White was already an indicator of what Morey wants to add to this team. If we can steal some of athletic talents from Atlanta, this team would look unstoppable.

Wait, when did Boozer say he wants to come here? We don't have the money or desire to sign him.

Hope this does not turn out like last year when nobody wanted to trade TMac for Billips and Prince.

I would but only because of Yao's durability issues. It starting to seem like Yao can't stay healthy because of his freakish size. Take the health issue out of the equation then I would much rather have Yao.

i'm not saying yao's soft...but the argument for yao's NOT soft is never centered around him being able to physically confront other players. yao's been punked many times in his career. he never retaliated. nothing from i've seen suggests he would confront kobe if kobe did the same to him. yao may have responded by playing better on the court but that's a different story.

    retaliate? that's an interesting perspective.

otoh, kobe has bullied shane and ron several times in the series, and i didn't see any retaliation at all from either of them. so both shane and ron (perceived by many as the toughest man on earth) are soft?

I try not to use the word soft to describe Yao now since it seems like a lot of fans don't like it. I think finesse is probably a better word. Pau, Dirk, Yao, etc, finesse type players.

Agreed. Trading Yao for Snuggles the fabric softener bear would bring more toughness than Gasol.

No. No way. Not in a heartbeat

I would prefer a player that gives 100% every game who is injury-prone over a player who shrinks in the spotlight

that's because "soft" is not true. and as a result, fans don't like it. you're acting like you do everyone a favor here by not using that word.

sometimes i wonder why some fans look too hard for "toughness" while watching basketball games. maybe in real life those lack of that quality themselves?

"finesse" otoh, is a word to describe play style, not a player's toughness. and i'm not even sure if "finesse" is as proper any more to describe yao's playing style. the man takes a beating every single night, bangs in the post all the time w/o too many calls go his favor. hard for me to use "finesse" to describe that.

Everyone always want tough players on their team. Why do you think so many analysts always say they want Artest in the foxhole with him?

You're right I'm just a geeky Asian kid with glasses and all huk huk huk.

the lakers would be doing backflips if they could get yao for simply gasol.

yao is far more valuable than gasol, he's better on the court overall, and he's much tougher.

Yeah right, Yao for Gasol? Are you dumb or what.

Maybe I'll trade Yao if you give me 2 Pau Gasol + a good role player.

Yao in LA will make too much money.
