You can't compare Harold Minor with LeBron James, the Rockets had the last lottery pick that year, and they passed him up. Regardless, I'll stick with Yao, considering how there are few quality centers are in the league.

    NO.

Yao is still the more difficult player to replace.

As mentioned above, Lebron hasn't even played a real NBA game yet. Lets see him compete with the likes of Tmac and Kobe. Lebron is good though. He is racking up the points with such ease, I think that is what is so impressive.

I don't know how good Lebron will become. He may be good or he might be great. What I do know is I would never base how good a player is upon summer league, or as I call it clank league action, where no players seem to be able to play D and are overtly turnover prone. What I will say is that maybe Lebron will become another Kobe (no he won't become MJ), which in no way does him any dis-service. However, in this past year, we have seen that Kobe can't lead his team to wins, I think they were 5-9 despite Kobe getting 40 PPG during that stretch. So even if Lebron does become all that and Yao only fulfills a small part of his potential, I'd still have my doubts. So what it comes down to is do you want Kobe, or a center.

And you based your decision on SLP. I can't wait to see him when the season starts. That's the real test. I hope it's not over-hyping, though I have seen a few mean dunks.

I seem to remember this other player that looked like he would be something truly amazing in the first summer league I saw him play in.

Now, what was his name again?

    Oh yeah!

    Kelvin Cato! :p

even if lebron has the potential to be great some day, there is still the "18 year old kid with 983949329593 million dollars" factor thrown in there. who knows what hes gonna do with his money. hopefully he spends it well, but you never know. with yao, the commie govt. in china takes a lot of his paycheck, so we dont have to worry about him getting busted for anything.

I wouldn't trade Yao or Steve for him even if he becomes better than Steve. I think your talikng about a very good player with potential to be better and a rookie with potential to be great I'd stick with my guns if I'm Houston

Lebron has not proved him at all. Having 15 points and an assist to turn over ratio 1:1 in the summer league does not mean anything. The only thing that he proved is that he can sell tickets!

7-5 folks who can pass like Magic and shoot like Larry Bird don't grow on trees, last time I checked. Not to demean LeBron's very special skill set, but 6-8 swingmen are everywhere.

Also don't forget, Yao's defense is light years ahead of LeBrons. Just watching last year's game, Yao simply stepping onto the court created a totally different presence for the Rocket's defense. I doubt LeBron will have that type of presence, ever.

So what we have is Yao will be a great offensive and defensive player. LeBron will be a great offensive and maybe only a passable defensive player.

    Advantage Yao.

When you have a big man that is as tall as Yao, and the ability to shoot, pass, move etc.. like he does, you do not give him up. You build around him. No way I take LeBron for Yao.

IT IS ONLY SUMMER LEAGUE GAMES MAN COME ON.LeBron hasent shown his worth yet against top tier stars in the league hasent been dropped to the floor by Shaq-Daddy or "Big Ben" Wallace.Crossed up by 3 of the hottest pg's right now Kidd,Marbury.Iverson and Francis.Hasent been made a fool of but the best players at his natural position.Ya'll just wait and see how this kid really plays when the season begins.AND WHAT IN THE HELL WERE YOU SMOKIN WHEN YOU POSTED THIS QUESTION.YAO MING FOR LEBRON.IT TAKES A CENTER WHO CAN PLAY IN THE BIG TIME(Wilt Chamberlin,Bill Russell,Robert Parish,Hakeem Olajuwon,Patrick Ewing and David Robinson nuff said)to win a title.I for got about "The Original Big Man" George Mikan.

Lets pretend his summer league stats is his performance during his rookie year in the NBA.

I think it said he has averaged 15.3pts, 7 rebs, and 6 assts on 40% FG... something like that. Cool in the summer league, pretty good for an NBA season but...

Even that wouldn't get me to trade Yao for LeBron.
