i notice how people are already putting low ratings on this thread.

this actually a tough question because Kobe has proven himself to be a 3 time champion with talent and he can dominate a PLAYOFF GAME. This is key.

However recently he's been an ego maniac and destroyed the Lakers franchise by pushing Shaq out. He can do the same thing here. (Pippen like attitude)

But if Kobe had a Rox uniform, 100% we'd be out of the 1st round with our talent. its about selling your soul for the devil, or hoping good will prevail.

Exactly, it is the reason I started the thread, because even though I would not do it, I certainly had to think LONG and hard about it first.

if we got kobe and bynum, that wouldnt be too bad.....

think of a starting lineup of

    james
    bryant
    mcgrady
    scola
    bynum

thats a very athletic, high energy team right there. could be very good defensively, good 3 pt shooting as well, still a rick adelman offense.

that said, i would prefer we give our current roster a try even though yao sucks against utah and phoenix.

but if it did go down, it wouldnt kill me, that is a very good team that should be able to contend.

The lack of Club LOYALTY is just pathetic!
Yao Ming is the franchise player and Tracy McGrady is its leader.
True Rockets fans would have nothing to do with this talk of trading them and that includes you DD :p

Hey now, I said no....but that doesn't mean I wouldn't consider ANYTHING that might make the team better.

I want my boys to win a championship, and no one is irreplaceable.......

    NO ONE !!

The only way I would do this is if Karl Mallone and John Stockton were brought out of retirement and signed with our team as part of the deal. that way we could have almost all of my most hated basketball players on (what used to be) my favorite team. while you're at it, why don't you give me a papercut and pour some lemon juice over it!

Damn, even the thought of Kobe coming to my team makes me feel nauseous. crap, now I have to go take a shower to get this dirty feeling off me...

Side note I find it interesting the people actually put "ratings" on threads. Never look at them myself.

I would take Kobe and Bynum....epsecially when you throw in the fact that Yao has already had foot problems and the other two have been healthy.

But again with Yao being the cash cow that he is I just don't see Les doing it.
    Basketballwise,it's a good move.

Kobe does not belong here. He belongs on a team where its ok for him to get +30 attempts a game. That is not the Rockets. We are too deep and to complete, we need team players, in short NOT KOBE. Please no more talk about bringing Kobe to Houston and breaking up the best Rockets team possibly ever. We beat Kobe's team, we do not need him!!!!33!!!

Then, Rockets need send Yao, James, Scola or more to get kobe and Bynum. The whole team is going to be total different, who knows which one is better. Also do not trade my boy Scola. :p

    Madmonkey37 posted it here

He said it was a post from a guy on another board that posted about the Baron Davis to GS trade before it happened.

I don't know how credible it is or isn't but it is an interesting proposal.

    [flame suit on]

I would definitely take Kobe over Yao. Kobe has the killer instinct that Yao and Tmac doesn't have. I read it somewhere on here earlier, but Kobe + Tmac = Jordan + Pippen. THere are teams that can exploit Yao and make him nearly useless in a game ala Utah. What team can stop Kobe or Tmac?? Each player could score 40+ any given night....and if they both do, the rest of the team could shoot up bricks and they would still win. Not only is Kobe one of the best scorers in the game, the guy plays great defense as well. I know people are loyal to YM, but he is no Hakeem. If he was 80% of Hakeen, I would say keep him.

i'm the one who said Kobe + T-Mac would be the closest thing to Jordan + Pippen

it would probably make us worse if we traded yao for kobe, but you never know. i'd still take that chance because kobe and t-mac would be awesome together.
