It wouldn't make sense basketball wise to trade Yao for Kobe. Yao is a solid force in the paint and if healthy can put up 25, and 12 in his sleep. This isn't a knock on Kobe, but we already have McGrady.

I think its harder to win a championship with two swingman then a big and a swingman. Gotta be patient as a Rockets fan, this could be the year if everyone stays healthy. Its not the time to make a desperation move.

Yao is a star, Kobe is a superstar, in NBA.But remember, it takes five,it takes five... Kobe and Tmac both in Rockets? I don't think it's a good combination.

No, I think Shaq, with his 4 rings on 2 different teams and domination of everyone in his prime, will go down as the best center of this decade, even though his dominance came early in the decade. Yao, in the next 3/4 years, won't accomplish what Shaq has. To do so, The Rockets would have to have a 3 peat and then Yao would have to go somewhere else and make that team a champion. Not happening.

Still that doesn't mean anything when talking about trading Yao for Kobe. No way should the Rockets do that in my opinion.

But, If you want to think of technically, the NBA is a business, and the point of a business is to make money.

There are 2 ways to do so:

    1. Become a championship team, or close to it.
    2. Have a money magnet (Yao, Kobe, LeBron, etc.) on the roster.

If one is not possible, go for the other. Kobe is probably the only player financially that could even come close to matching Yao's popularity (the Rockets must make BANK off Chinese- and other -fans all over the world because of Yao) that is supposedly on the market. It's the only sensible solution.

Yao would sell more in LA (although I think Kobe sells enough) due to the Chinese population in LA and a T-Mac/Kobe pairing could potentially be the biggest marketing madhouse in recent history, what with all the 'Next Jordan/Pippen?' ad campaigns, etc.

The Bucks owner won't let Yi go, not because he thinks Yi will transform the team into a championship level team, but because Yi will bring in a lot of money from Chinese- again, and other -fans all over the world.

Think about it, why do a lot, or most, owners stray away from LT when they can make their teams better? Because it will cost them. Why would they even want their team to be good? So they can make money off it. The GM wants to make a good team so he can keep his job, etc. etc. That is why, however annoying he is, Mark Cuban is a great owner (it pains me to say it). He wants his teams to be good, he wants to be proud of his team.

But I am not the owner of the Rockets franchise and I care about winning SO...

    HELL NO.

If i get Bynum i will do the trade, the guy is young has a couple of years experience playing for a top flight coach, getting tutorted by Kareem. Kobe and T-Mac have great respect for each other I watch how they play & the all star games. Yao has proven against Utah in the playoffs, and he will continue to do so during the season to have several games where he doesn't look like a MVP candidate. Yes he will have good games, but anytime a player goes out and we wonder if we're improved by Deke at 41 years old taking his place, save the hype. Yao has too many nights were he looks like a second round pick. I think Bynum is a future 15 pts. 8 rebounds. 2 blocks not bad from the center spot, with Tmac and Kobe togetheir.

I would do this trade. But I would much rather trade Tmac for Kobe; I'd even thow in Battier even though I really want to keep him.

In my opinion, as far as the Rockets are concerned, Yao should be untradeable/untouchable. You need a dominant big man. They aren't very easy to come by.

Kobe is way too good to pass up, and is head and shoulders better than Yao at this point. I really like Yao, but Kobe is most likely going to end up being the second greatest SG of all time. Furthermore, Kobe certainly worlds better than Mc " I couldn't even get out of the 1st Rd. in the East" Grady, which is why we have to somewhat gut our care in order to get a trade done in a package for Kobe that doesn't include Yao. Trading Yao would most likely leave us with a deeper team than if we traded Tmac.

One game, Kobe takes 30 shots and Tmac takes another 30 shots. Other players all play D?!
