i traded yao for kobe in my fantasy league. But never in real life. Let lakers have bonzi, james, battier, alston and synder as well. Throw in the 1st round draft pick for the next 5 years. We would not be needing them. Again i say, yao for kobe? the answer is a simple no.
Definitely no, Yao is more suitable for the current team I think guys like Kobe are difficult when it comes to getting along with teammates. He is the BEST basketball in the world, but, he's better fighting alone
Yao for Kobe, emotional reaction = NO WAY. I respect Kobe's game cuz I don't have to have a rooting interesting in him. If Kobe were on the Rockets, as a lifelong Rockets fan I would BOYCOTT myself from watching games if that terd was on the team. Yao for Kobe, all other things considered in the basketball sense = sadly, yes ... - Someone said they'd make the trade cuz Yao is not a good fit in Adelman's system. So do you trade a big man who's a fair fit but gets numbers, for a guy with a potentially disruptive personality that takes 5-6 shots a game NOT within the flow of the system that gets numbers? For whats best for the TEAM, tough to say which is better.... - The other parts of the deal would be Battier + Head for Bynum.. The trade would be made trade for Bynum's potential and youth. Its implied he's another Jermaine O'Neal/Tyson Chandler/Eddie Curry/Dwight Howard type waiting to happen...but to me I don't see what the big deal is. All I see is a slightly better Brendan Haywood but that's just me... - The Rockets are renowned for their history of big men in the middle. Well, the Lakers history of centers isnt that bad either....not that we'd have to help them out on that. - Everyone piled on TheHangover (bad start to his post him attacking the YOFs), but those are valid points. If Yao's limitations are based on his physicality according to some people, its not like his body's gonna get more agile and fluid...Can say he doesn't rely on athleticism anyways, but you see how much tougher it is for him to be durable already. Any more injuries to him and, man.... But its not like Kobe is getting any more athletic and is gonna jump any higher either.... - Yao for Deron Williams? Okay now, I know Yao isnt the great dominator on both sides of the floor, but that's like trading Dirk for TJ Ford. As far as what it means to the team... Lebron is 22 though. Only Magic had more accomplishment at that age. Bird and Wade won titles very early in their careers, but it at least says something that Lebron got to the finals already...which Yao hasn't. Or most other superstars ever havent at age 22.
I dont see how this makes sense basketball wise. I agree with you that Bynum is not a Jermaine O'Neal or Dwight Howard in the making. Those guys are all stars. He is also not as athletic or enegetic as Chandler, and doesnt have the post moves of Curry. He doesnt seem to have the desire to become a star and hasnt even been able to overtake Kwame Brown. Yes he is young, so who knows, but at this point there is no reason to think he will get to the level of the players you mentioned. As for Basketball, how would a Kobe and Tmac team work. Look at our game against the Lakers. Kobe took 32 shots and another 27 free throws (which equates to about 13 more shots). That is 45 shots. I know he wont always shoot that many but I would expect him to take about 28 a game. I dont know how that would work with Tmac also getting his 20-24 shots a game. Not to mention Mike James shooting at will as well. We would have a team with almost no offense inside (Bynum, Deke, Hayes, Scola). I would guess about 85 percent of our shots would come from perimeter players and that isnt a recipe for success in the NBA. From the Lakers side, Im sure they would be all over this trade if the Rox offered. It would be by far the best deal they could get. Yao would sell the place out which they need. It would also give them a team of Yao, Odom, Walton, Battier, Fisher, Turiaf, Brown, Head, and Farmar which would be a pretty solid 9 man rotation. Much better then what Dallas or Chicago is offering. That being said, I dont see Houston giving up on what has been a promising start to the season, even though we are not in sync yet.
Although TMac and Kobe may look good on paper, team chemistry-wise, I just don't see it clicking like Yao Tmac combo
Well I don't think so. T-Mac is pretty unselfish. But yeah no way T-Mac and Kobe work unless they become the next Jordan/Pippen combo. I like Yao and McGrady together I think if they had the right role players last season we could have gone farther in the playoffs,.
this trade is kind of weird. If the trade goes, the very first problem is, how TMAC and KOBE co-exist in one team And for the best of Rockets, Shane and Yao are the plays that you never wanna get rid of.
Hell yes, I would trade Yao for Kobe, but I would include Battier so we could get Bynum as well. Still need a starting Center.
