You are wrong! Yao is also a legend already! In fact, his inflence is bigger than any other basketball player. We can say that his inflence is over basketball! :)

so if legendary status = influence, then well that's sad. so arvydas sabonis is more of a legend than kobe b/c he changed the way big men play the game?

i'm talking about pure accomplishments, IN GAME impact, and how they stack up to the greats brother.

but if that's your legendary status, i don't think anyone can touch yao.

but u said yao is a legend compared to kobe. we're talking about basketball legends in terms of greats of all time here. no one cares if u can impact the world. if so ginobili, scola, sabonis, yi will all have more impact than american players. it's easier b/c they can reach a different region of the world.

I do think Sabonis is more of a lengend than Kobe! Kobe is only one of nba great stars. Yao and Tmac hasn't passed the 1st round yet. But they are still fighting. In fact, I felt touching when I watched the first two games this season. They didn't give up, and their teammates trust them and willing to following them. I believe they can with the titles some day. :)

We were just talking about this earlier. I would not trade Battier in the deal though. I would consider throwing in Francis though...

Francis & Yao for Kobe & Bynum?

I don't think anyone in today's game is really legend, yet, except for Shaq and maybe Duncan. Because their careers are about to come to end. I think Kobe more so than anyone else, even Lebron is on his way to becoming one.

When I think legend, I think someone who has reached pretty much all of their potential and won just about as much as anyone could win.

Most everyone else is either in one of the following:

    Winning a Championship
    Winning a Championship (w/o Shaq)
    Getting to Finals
    Getting to Conference Finals
    Getting Past First Round
    Making the Playoffs period

That's level most of the best in today's game are trying to get to.

Any hope that Kobe might have had about coming to Houston has been lost after the first two games. We don't need him.

    I think I would.

    A team of:
    James
    Kobe
    TMac
    Scola/Hayes
    Bynum

with a bench of Wells, Rafer, Deke (and hopefully SF one day) in RA's system would give teams fits.

That said - I don't think Les will ever ok a trade with Yao on the list - even for Kobe.

YAO MING IS THE NEW FACE OF THE FRANCHISE, AND NBA TO TRADE THAT WOULD BE INSANE. I WOULDN'T EVEN TRADE STEVE NOVAK FOR KOBE AT LEAST NOVAK KNOWS HIS ROLE. DEKE FOR PRESEDENT HE PROMISES MOR HOSPITALS  BUT IT WOULD BE PRETTY COOL TO SEE HIS LAMBO IN HOUSTON AND HIS WIFE. YEAH TRADE NOVAK FOR HIS WIFE. DEKE FOR PRESEDENT

Yao is not going anywhere until maybe in his mid-thirties when he starts to be significantly slower. Houston would even not trade him for Lebron right now.

The moment I saw the question, it was a simple No!

Don't trade an all star big for an all star player, even if he is the best in the league and esspecially if you have someone that is nearly as good as the player your trading for, in this case, Tmac.

Kobe is a legend, Yao is not close to being a basketball legend, maybe in China. The only reason Yao is so hot now is because of the lack of good big men in the NBA, but if Yao battled the men that Shaq, Hakeem and the rest of the great NBA big men battled, he will not stand up to par.

That being said, Yao has Chemistry with TMAC and the rest of the team, and is a way better TEAM player than Kobe, so thats a NO TRADE.

Also, for a superstar coming HOLLYWOOD, houston will be too small for Kobe and he knows it too, i doubt a kobe trade will occur, most likely LA will trade for someone to help Kobe out

You forget, Kobe has a no trade clause, so if a trade with the Rockets did happen, it was because Kobe approved it.

Kobe/Bynum for Yao/Battier/Head? Do it in a heartbeat!

When have you ever seen a non-athletic player ever be dominant? Yao will have good stats scoring, but he will never be dominant.

If any of you think that Yao still has time to be dominant, you are only kidding yourselves.
