Yao for James? No, while the Texans really need a running game, I still can't give up on Yao, not after the start he's had, and I don't think Yao would look good in a pacers jersey.

I think the Fakers have already shown us that a center is more important than a guard, just as Bryant is considered great there are other guards who you could make a case for, such as McGrady, Pierce and Cater is he ever got healthy. But absolutely no one can be compared to Shaq, and I think in Ming's time, there will never be another certain of his kind.

Remember this name--you may hear it again in 3 years: Yi Jian lian

News from China is saying he is 15 years old 7 footer, only foreign player in this year's Nike summer camp and ranked #5 out of 145 players there.

Yao also went to this camp when he was young (and about the same height as Yi)

Frankly, I think Mutumbo and Wallace are all stars by default. They are great rebounders and defenders, but have no offensive game. Generally speaking, I don't think specialists deserve to be all stars, but I guess somebody has to play center.

As for James, I think I'll take Yao and Cat over Cato and James.

Ok well this Yi dude is still pretty far away, 3 years till he turns 18 and I'm pretty certain theres no way he'll be ready to play in the NBA at such a tender age. He still has a lot of developing to do but I'll keep an open mind and pull for this kid, but do u seriously think he has a chance of being 7'6 like Ming. I mean do you have any other information on this guy, so that I won't be making any span judgements on someone I know very little. If I were 7 feet tall I'm pretty sure I could some how manage to be ranked number 5 in a Nike camp, but sadly I'm not.

How do you people know how good LeBron James is going to be? Have any of you people seen him against NBA competition, or are you going by all the rumors about how good he is in High School and Basketball camp competition? Give me a break. The kid will probably be good, but who wants to label him "Baby Jordan". Harold Minor (Miami Heat) was labeled "Baby Jordan". He's probably delivering pizza somewhere now. My point is that this Yao Ming for Lebron James is crap. BIG pile of it.

Based on James' entourage, I'd take Ming.

I think that you need to really know what's worth James before answering this question.
I don't, but I'll tell that, at this point, I wouldn't trade him for anybody in the league, the risk of having thrown away the next #1 would be to high.

Well, it's certainly possible that James can be the next Jordan. But it's just as possible that he'll be a bust.

It's pretty much a sure bet that Ming is going to be an All-Star center in the League. If Ming's upside wasn't so high, I'd think about it. But Ming has a chance to become the next Wilt, and at worst right now, he seems like a Rik Smits.

Sounds like ya'll don't know much about James. He works out with current NBAers and beats them. He already has the respect of players in the league.

I am a Rockets and Yao fan, but I'd take James from the reports I've heard from people I respect. If Yao were a year or so along and battling for league awards instead of playing time with Collier, I'd be more inclined to stick with Yao. Both are raw and projects with incredible upside.

But, I guess it comes down to where you stand on the Draft Hakeem vs. Jordan draft. Common sense says you take the center. The rest of the country thinks we messed up. All about perspective.

Yao performed perfectly in big games. He has the mentality to take it to another level when it counts. Many good players dominate the regular season and shrink into non-factors in big games. That's why they were good but never great. Stepping up in big games is a big plus. What big games has James played in to prove himself?

    You guys are homerific...

Any GM in the league would do that trade in a heartbeat.
