I would make this deal in a heartbeat, it gives us flexibility in the frontcourt, plus it gives us an athletic big to help with rebounding. Plus in case you haven't noticed, Yao Ming looks pretty close to having to call it quits.

    P.S. Irregardless isn't a word

I can't believe people said no. Yao is done and will not play another full nba season. We would be lucky to get Blake and usually impossible but hey it is the Clippers.

At this point whats the point of debating trading anyone for Blake Griffin? It is not a possibility, and it wasn't ever proved to be considered at the time of this original post.

In June of 2009 Yao has just fractured his left foot and was discussing the terms of his surgery that would keep him out the entire next season, and the Clippers were poised to draft the only player in the draft that stood out as the unanimous #1 pick in Griffin...

When Griffin's contract is up and he is contemplating free agency then we can talk. This kid is one of the top 5 untouchable players in the league at the moment and selling out games in the Staples center for the first time in 10 years when the Lakers have the night off.

-If you can prove to me that there was serious trade talks about Yao AT THIS POINT in history then I will back off and say that maybe the Clippers are dumb enough to trade him, but until then, i think its safe to say that Morey getting blamed for not pulling the trigor on a deal that never would have happened is irrelevant.

There are many good players in the league. But they all have nothing to do with the Rockets. The truth is that Rockets is not attractive to those superstar players. If Rockets want to get one, tank seems the only way.

How could you NOT make that trade?

Seems many people are delussional about Yao's future.... let me clarify...YAO IS DONE! His sole value is that of a huge expiring contract - period!

Is there a chance he'll play again.... sure...albeit slim...

I'd have to say there's maybe a 5% chance Yao will ever play at an allstar level again - just too many injuries piling up...

Maybe a 20% chance he'll me a serviceable role player (ala Walton's last few years...)

That being the case - I'd swap him for some young talent or a first round in a heartbeat!

I would do it because, as good as Yao is, he's a giant whole and a negative impact most of the time because he's not playing.

You're clueless, healthy Yao was the best big man in the NBA offensively and #2 defensively behind Howard.

I know I’m propagating by commenting on this thread but with the way Yao’s season ended up and Griffin being the most untradeable young player in the NBA I feel embarrassed having it in page 1 of the GARM. It is 01/18/2011, whoever reads that thread title today will have the right to think we are delusional fools, please let it go.

I do find this humorous......this thread was created in June of 2009, before Blake Griffin was even in the league.....

20% were in favor, 80% were not...it is now even...lol.

Didn't read many of the posts in this thread. But based upon the poll, some of you all need a serious reality check. This one is not even close. The likely ROY vs a player likely to never play in the NBA again?

Where does all this alleged China $ come from when there is no Yao on the roster?

It's been argued to death how much Les makes off of Yao. Those business deals don't just try up when (not if) the Big Fella moves on. What does change is the number of season tickets and empty seats in the TC for a team perpetually bouncing between the #8 seed and the #12 Lottery pick.

Griffin at PF and package Scola and anyone not named Martin for a legit C with some range.

The revenue generated from China(regarding the Rockets which is an NBA brand)... endorsements, tv deals, etc. go to the NBA first and foremost.

Then a percentage of the revenue then gets distributed among ALL of the franchises in what they call "revenue sharing."

The Rockets only are allowed the to collect revenue from the Chinese market from advertising space in the Toyota center. Advertising revenue of that sort only makes up 3 to 5% of the total revenue.

So in retrospect, why would a team like the Clippers are already collecting revenue from the presence of Yao Ming.

Its funny how everyone is saying no to Griffin and now looked at how it turned out. Yao Ming is a bench warmer and Griffin is constantly performing at an elite level.

Even if Yao Ming is healthy and is playing at his prime level, I still take Griffin over Yao. Yao at his prime is putting up decent numbers like 22 and 9.5 rebs while Griffin as a rookie is already putting up better stats.

Blake Griffin is a true superstar and Yao Ming in his prime is more of a 2nd tier star.

funny thing is I didn't realize it was an old thread and I was wondering how it was even... thinking everyone had lost their minds...

With that said I would trade anyone on this roster for Griffin... But I doubt the Clippers would even listen... even if we ate Baron's contract (I'm sure any team would be willing to)...

Now Blake Griffin is not so good as the stats show.
First, he doesn't show great defense yet. This is what he needs to improve if he wants to be a great player.
Also, He always want to finish with dunking, which will make him injury prone.

He has potentials, everybody knows. The ceiling of him will most depend on his coach.

I'm not trying to pick on you, but I just find it funny to list Blake Griffin as injury prone in a thread that compares him to Yao.

I got hammered for suggesting this, ..kind of reminds me of my, "Would you trade Tmac for Manu" thread the year before.....or my "Francis for Andre Miller" years before that....

Being clairvoyant, or seeing things before others is a hard burden to bare.

    ;)

Can't be afraid of unpopular opinions, especially when they are proven right over time....now where did I put my horn?

    Ah, here it is ...

    Toot toot !
