    Man (((((((HELL NAW)))))))
Gasol would make our team better and you have a valid argument. but ideally we would like to win a championship right?

Yao (without Shaq's ego and deferring to kobe)
    Odom/Bynum
    Artest
    Kobe
    Fisher

That is a Dynasty. We wouldn't even compete until long after Shane, Scola, Ariza, and Gasol retired. We could up tempo all we wanted to.

Yao can be guarder by Gasol
    Odom by Hayes
Bynum by Gasol or double teammed
Artest by Ariza or T-Mac :D
    Kobe by Shaaaaaane Battieeeeeeeer
    Fish by Lowry
    any problem with these matchups??

    You mean a lineup of:

    Bynum
    Odom
    Artest
    Kobe
    Fisher

Artest, Kobe, Odom, and Fisher are all on the wrong side of 30. This isn't NBA 2k10. You have to actually be healthy to play.

Don't really understand the logic here. Ok, yes. Gasol will play this upcoming season and Yao wont. But what's the end game? We'd probably make the playoffs but not win the title. And since we'd have an outside shot at being contenders, the offense would most likely run through McGrady and Gasol. This means that all the Rockets' recent acquisitions (and Brooks) would have less of an opportunity to develop. Also, Gasol's contract expires at the end of the 2011 season which means we wouldn't have a chance to use his salary towards a FA next summer. And we wouldn't get a good draft pick.

Conversely, Yao missing the entire season ensures we miss the playoffs. And since we won't be contenders, hopefully that translates into more minutes for the Rockets' recent acquisitions. And that might lead to a high draft pick.

Lol. That's an excuse. They have enough depth to rest the super stars. You know that. 3-4 years are all they need to start a dynasty.

After seeing how innefective Gasol was against Chuck in the WC Semi's despite having an 8" height advantage...pass...

But hasn't Yao been just as successful in some games against the same kind of defense, he occasionally gets them in foul trouble, while they don't have anyone with size to match up against him for the whole game.

It's not just about who plays this season. Which player is a better bet to play full seasons in their 30s?

For the record I'd rather trade him for Paul.

They actually have very little depth behind the top 6 players on that team.

You don't need star players on the bench.
A renewed Morrison, some new free agents. And they are deep as hell.

Well, we agree to disagree. However, I think why don't we just tank and get a young promising Center instead of Gasol.
I'd rather do that. With Gasol we aint no contender and without the slightest hope to be one with a couple of key additions.
BECAUSE it is unlikely we get Wade or Lebron at this point.
    Might as well foster rookies.

Are you serious? Morrison? The guy that shoots 37% from the floor and couldn't guard Ryan Bowen if he tried.

Whatever. I want to end it here. Two solid bench players are not hard to find.
They have a top notch 5 man rotation with couple of good bench players (Odom,Bynum,Farmar,Walton) on the bench. If Adam does not work out, there will be more.

Because I believe in giving it your all. I'm perfectly fine with rebuilding, but not tanking.

Fine with me. Again even without tanking we might get a serviceable Center prospect. Away with Gasol who will be crap in a couple of seasons.
