    No way.
Yao is a franchise player when healthy and Gasol is an all star. You can build WC around Yao but not gasol. People is so easily to forget that Gasol was an injury prone in Menphis and can't lead that team to playoff after shawn left.

    In a heartbeat.

Yao is a hard worker, but he just does not have the athelticism to compete in the NBA night in and night out. In the regular season he can dominate, but in a 7 game series he can get taken out soo easily. Once coaches start scheming to stop him.

Until he can gaurd a high pick and roll which is never.
Or a beat a fronting defense which is never I would trade him for Gasol anyday. If you watched the Lakers series Gasol can score on Yao all day. Yao just doesn't have the lateral quickness to stop these smaller faster players. IE BOOZER...

Im asian and I can admit that Yao Ming is overrated. Especially here on clutchfans.

People seem to easily forgot how crappy the Memphis team was when Gasol was playing there, especially after Battier left.

He can't carry a team. Comparing to Yao, he is no better at the offensive end nor defense. So, can I say pass?

Yes. It would help the rockets a lot. Rockets get a center who can run the floor, rebound, and block shots. It also gives the Lakers an injury prone center who is on the decline,, it helps the rockets too.

Crappy memphis was? They made the playoffs 3 years straight with Gasol. Only to lose to the spurs every year. I even think they made it as high as the 5th seed one year. They are crappy now because they traded Gasol.

Give me an example how Pau succeeded as the No.1 option in Memphis.
Low playoff berths do not count. Zilch?

With Yao, the Rockets are contenders, with Gasol, the Rockets would be a very good team but not a contender. Nuff said.

2003–04 Lost First Round (San Antonio) 4-0
2004–05 Lost First Round (Phoenix) 4-0
2005–06 Lost First Round (Dallas) 4-0
Wow. They made the play-off three times. And they made it once to the 6th seed and once to the 5th.
    Guess what happens then.

How has Yao succeeded as a number 1 option in Houston? How has he succeeded as a number 2 option? How many titles has Houston won with him?

    Yao = Overrated

He can't be the number one option on a title contending team. Pau can't either, but I think he does better as a number 2 option.

Please do me a favor and compare his RB and BS numbers to Yao's.
 He can run the floor, pretty lame argument because he is not the fastest either.

Ironic, because I agree with your assessment of Yao but still wouldn't trade him for Gasol. I've never been a huge fan of Yao because of his many weaknesses but I think that's a foolish trade proposal.

I think you're just too eager to say Yao Ming is overrated. Maybe he is, but he's a better asset to a team than Gasol.

We are just comparing him to Yao Ming. GIve me an example of how Yao has succedded as a number 1 option in Houston?

He took a memphis starting lineup of chutky atkins eddie jones jake tsakadlis and battier to the 5th seed in the west. You think Yao could have done just as well with that lineup? Basketball is a team game no one player can single handledy lead a team to a championship anymore. Kobe couldn't even get out of the first round once shaq left til he got Gasol.

Yao's had TMAC this whole time and we could get no higher than 4 and only this year did we finally make it to the playoffs. But if Tmac is as healthy as they say he is and we trade yao for gasol. We could easily contend for a top 3 seed in the West.

Gasol led spain to a gold medal in the world championship that's pretty darn successful if you ask me.

Ok. Being serious now, if there is a player close to Hakeem who can be traded for Yao. Then yes. Pau. No.

Same as McGrady. Notice how he had more success when he had a better team around him.

How many titles has LeBron won?

Its only foolish because Yao makes Houston a ton of Money. In a basketball standpoint I'd much rather have Gasol. He is just as efficient on offense and we do lose some on Defense, but can we really count on Yao to play 82 games a year and stay healthy? He hasn't proven he can yet.

Gasol also is an ideal player for Adelman's offense with his combination of inside outside game ala vlade divac.

It was a close call for me, until I looked it up on basketball reference and saw Yao's stat line for the 100's of games he has and will miss during his career:

    0.0 ppg - 0.0 rpg - 0.0 apg
