He has to sign the extension first; otherwise, he could walk. That's why he had similar power as Tmac did with Magics. Again, possibilities aside, you still have to make the money work. Accept KG's contract, who are you going to bundle with Yao to make it work? It's just impossible. So it's never KG for Yao straight up. If the Heat ask the Pistons, would you like to have Shaq for whatever you give me, just match the salary? What are the Pistons going to do? They probably can't do anything, but pass the opportunity to get Shaq for "free". Does that make Shaq worth nothing? No, just the money can't be worked out. I won't trade Yao for KG, does that mean I think Yao is better than KG? Absolutely not! KG is easily top 5, and Yao is not even near top 10. Just I don't think KG + TMac + bunch of crap can win you anything, but I see great future for TMac + Yao + some quality.
I don't really have a problem with what you said because you're right - in the real world you have to deal with things like making salaries match. (I don't honestly think that very many people chose "NO" because they didn't think we could match salaries) Mostly I just wanted to be a jerk and point out that Shaq+Kobe+bunch of crap won 3 strait championships.
DOWN THE STRETCH THEY COME YAO IS CHASING KG AND SURPASSES HIM BY A NOSE. CLUTCHFANS ARE CHEERING YAO AND WILLING HIM TO A VICTORY. 316 TO 315 YAO WINS. TO THE HORSE GO THE SPOILS
I am sorry to disappoint you, but I was a T-Mac fan before I was a Rox fan. Or was I a McDonald's Big Mac fan before I was a Rox fan? I can't remember which one it is. I know one thing though: You'll hear bigger cheers when the Rockets score 100 than when T-Mac makes a spectacular dunk or wins the game. Apparently some Rox fans go to the game to get fed rather than entertained. P.S. Did you vote for KG and tied the vote at 316?
You are definitely not a jerk But I never consider Horry, Harper, George etc are bunch of crap. NOw, I am the one who's being difficult
My point is, even if you're over the cap, you can always bring in guys like Horry and Harper for the veteran's minimum or the Mid-level exception. It's much easier to replace mediocre guys that top tier talent.
Yeah, obviously Will and I are trolls for saying that KG is better than Yao. Clutch is going to ban us tomorrow.
You know out of 646 votes, although half of them (including me) voted no, I guess NO ONE out of those 646 said that Yao is better than KG now, right? So you and Will are not exactly the brave ones who broke out the truth that the earth is round, and faced burning execution
Money isn't the problem, particularly with the new CBA (25% rule). Yao + JH plus any number of players (Spoon, Sura, James) would work. Could do KG + Sam for Yao, Spoon, JH + Sura or James as well. I'd rather more entertain the KG for Tmac deal anyway. For one, I think it is more plausible for a number of reasons. Tmac has only been a Rocket 1 year and few serious Rocket fans would majorly protest (e.g., stop buying tickets and merchandise) for a Tmac-KG swap. Yao is sort of a different case from a fan base perspective, not to mention that trade would be harder for Minn fans to swallow as right now he isn't close to caliber of Tmac or KG. KG + Sammy + 1st for Tmac + JH + Sura. That is a whole lot more interesting to consider from both team's perspective.
I will take Yao + TMac over Yao + KG any day. We need a perimeter player to complement Yao's post games. Although KG is do everything well kind of guy, he does not have an explosive perimeter game as TMac, nor is he such a force to reckon inside the paint as Yao is. As such, I prefer Yao/TMac over KG/TMac even if KG is overall a better player than Yao right now.
Yes, KG has better game now but yes, I'd rather have the younger guy because he'll still be playing 5 years from now. And if KG plays great ball to 45, I'm out of luck, but it's still I think the correct decision. David.
potential, salary, impact, and loyalty - yao yao's potential is nowhere near garnett is already at. period. garnett at his peak is pretty much better than any player's potential EVER. no player in the league except for maybe iverson, has the impact on both ends of the floor that KG has. 24,15,6 plus blocks and steals 40+ minutes EVERY NIGHT is much better than what yao gives us. i'm not quite sure how loyal yao is to the franchise after just 3 seasons. that's a very tough call. but i do know that KG has been with Minnesota his whole career through some very difficult and trying times and has never once made excuses or asked for a trade out of town. if that isn't loyalty, nothing is.
Is your toilet broken so you don't have elsewhere to discharge your crap? M.James for LeBron? Yao only a top 50 player? Get that stupid s**t outta here. KG's salary gets you Yao at the max contract plus a full MLE type of player and possibly more, that's more tempting than just KG alone. On the other side, Yao has more potential and brings more money. Plus, KG didn't do much on the Wolves, one reason being questions marks on his leadership, another being his cap killer status. You are not the Woves GM, you don't know what they think. The Spurs just won the ring because they played inside-outside in the fourth quarter. Right now Yao is a better candidate than KG in that department although KG is a better overall player. I'm torn between the choices but don't like people make it out to be so lopsided.
