Ok, I am convinced, I was wrong, I would no longer trade Tmac for Manu..... I agree that it is the supporting cast of players, although I don't think Tmac and Manu are as far apart as some in this thread, I will agree that they have won the argument. Mods please lock it up.....I need to go tuck my tail between my legs and head to the corner. DD
Isn't this a moot point until Tmac and Yao have a legitimate NBA team around them? I'm sick of the d-league all-stars/rockets role players.
DD, i know you're arguing out of frustration. but tmac and manu are farther apart than you think. manu would not be able to guard the harpring and shut him down, he wouldn't be able to switch on guys like boozer nad milsap for 2-3 possession stretches and do well. he wouldn't be able to provide the rebounding tmac did. he wouldn't have been able to do the playmaking AND scoring the entire game. i'm sure you watched the game and you have to see how much tmac had to do under the type of pressure he faced. manu faces ZERO of that. what i want is we need to have more playmakers. michael finley can create his own shot still if the shot clock winds down and actually has a good chance of making it. we need players like that. by next yr, if we have hayes and head as part of our main rotation, we haven't improved. but hey, this series showed our talent gap is closer. we could actually beat this team without yao. if yao comes back fully healthy next yr (but will our stars ever stay healthy), we will leave utah in the dust.
I agree objective fans look at differently, since they are not blinded by homerism. However, everyone I talk to still considers T-Mac a top talent and they won't hear of anything other than his terrible supporting cast being the reason he's losing all the time. They want to see what will happen when he has real talent. They don't watch him all the time so they don't really see his flaws, but that's the consensus. You were not wrong to ask the question DaDa. It's a fair question. I doubt the Spurs WOULDN'T do it. Tim Duncan is aging and it's not like Manu is the future of the franchise with all his youth. Popovich might not want McGrady if he's never going to drive in, but I'm sure Pop can work on that. Since this is purely hypothetical, imagine all the damage McGrady would cause on the Spurs. He would hit Finley and Barry and Bowen and even Parker every time. He would draw a double team off Duncan and find Duncan with a crisp pass every time. If he can be brought to drive by Popovich, you've got a guy who's much more able and talented than Manu running the offense. Manu is a great player, don't get me wrong, but he's not a motivated T-Mac, which is what you'll have (probably) under Popovich. What Manu has on T-Mac NOW is relentless will to go to the basket and FT shooting, however Manu is not played like the best player on the team. He would certainly not be the focus of the Jazz defense. The game winner he hit (all props to him for it) was single coverage. Everyone else had to respect his temmates, so he could go 1 on 1. That's just something T-Mac doesn't ever see anymore. Manu had 1 on 1 ALL THE WAY TO THE FREAKIN' HOOP MAN!!!!!!! Game.
sarcasm? I've been trying to figure out for certain if tmac is the 2nd best SG behind Kobe. I can't make threads but think about it. He won it with shaq and a much more talented team than tmac's ever had. But when he has a season where he's banged up (like all of tracy's seasons) and has a depleted team (like all of tracy's seasons) he has the worst team in the league with role players like Shawn Marion, Haslem, Jason Williams, and Ricky Davis. You wanna talk about quitting? He literally quit playing before the season ended and it was obvious it was just because the season wasn't going their way.
Cleverly disguised euphemism for "Shut up HP, I can't take a joke." I'm trying to get you to laugh at yourself? It's about Karma. Wrong thread; wrong time. Laugh! And step out of this thread before it's too late. It will ruin your enjoyment of Game 3. You're taking things too personally. Relax. btw: do you know what the word "projecting" means. "Susie is projecting her feelings onto Timmy." <--- obligatory smilie used to disarm overly-sensitive posters.
Yes yes, we are two peas in a pod......I get it. As for game 3, perhaps you will recall my "No expectations" thread before the series even started. Nothing has happened that I was not expecting...I was just hoping that the team would pull off a miracle. DD
Oh, yeah. I forgot to do my DD homework before the series began and read up on all your posts. Back in Houston, I used to be in a study group with rimbaud and Mango. We'd go over your posts before the playoffs. But now I've moved, Nuggets4 said he'd rather not start a study group here in Colorado. btw: no need to admit you are wrong. remember, this is "<i>just a poll. no right or wrong answer....just an opinion. DD</i> " Relax: it wasn't your worst thread ever. No need to lock it up unless you're embarrassed.
Nah, I am never embarrassed to speak my mind or discuss the Rockets....the "I was wrong comment" was that I have changed my mind based upon people who made good arguments in this thread...... Not you of course. And I want it locked up because Clutch has a much better thread going discussing a lot of these same topics...... DD PS. Still wating on you to admit that spreading your legs wide on defense is the right way to play......been about 4 years now I think......
I haven't read this thread but I see there is more than a few of you who wouldn't trade T-mac for Manu.. WHAT!!! Are you guys serious? Manu would seriously change the dynamics of our team. Manu actually looks to attack the basket than shoot jumpers.. Hence he has almost 100 or more Free throw attempts this season than Tracy.. 100!!!!! And common now 4th qtr 2 min left and we need to score. Who do you choose? Manu or Tracy? Easy choice is Manu because if he doesn't have a clear shot he will get to the DAMN line.. And actually make the damn free throws.. To many noobies on this board who are star struck with T-macs past... T-mac is a has been and can barely make the 3rd all-team selection.. This is a man who make as much money as KOBE T-mac makes as much money as Manu and Tony Parker combined... My gripes on T-mac 1. Past his prime 2. Injury prone 3. Does not have the ability anymore to get to the rack 4. If he does get to the rack he can't even make the damn free throws. 5. Makes way to much money for his current ability. 6. Passion/Killer - Instinct is non existent in critical situations. 7. Settles for jumpers behind the 3pt line when he SUCKS as a 3pt shooter. 8. Attacking the basket,Attacking the basket,Attacking the basket, Oh yeah I forgot Attacking the damn basket. Penetration leads to double teams for other players, also leads to foul shot attempts
I would be the happiest person in the world. Tmac playing with TD, Parker, Bowen, Finley... man oh man, it will be like a dream come true.
I'd do that if salary matching is not a problem. Bottomline, TMAC is still better than Manu. But TMAC has salary more than double Manu's. So obviously, the price/quality ratio of Manu is WAY better than TMAC.
