Because they ha a full team healthy and Bynum was a nightly double double while shooting an amazing %. We saw the last 2 seasons what Kobe has done without that type of player and various injuries throughout the year... a 500 club. Meanwhile T-Mac has had a bit more to work with, but has led the team to 50+ win seasons.
I completely disagree. The closest thing the Rockets have to a floor leader in Rafer Alston, ironically enough. T-Mac and Yao are just not the type of guys to step up and demand that the other players fall into line.
It was a 10 game winning streak without Yao, not 22. And if not for Yao's absence in the Utah game in the loss before the streak started we could be talking about a much longer streak than just 22 games. And frankly from what I remember the records of those last ten teams wasn't that great. I wouldn't underestimate Manu's importance to a team with Tim Duncan and Tony Parker, btw. It's pretty clear so far from their series with the Lakers that when Manu sucks the Spur lose.
No. It's out of the question. Another stupid thread. T-mac is great, it's unappreciative fans that are the problem.
In the 10 games without Yao we beat NO, Dallas, LAL, Denver, Washington and Atlanta...all playoff teams. With Yao during the streak we only won 4 games against playoff teams (3 of the 4 against Eastern Conference teams...Cleveland 2x, Atlanta 1x, and then the one Western Conference team was NO).
Manu is effective because he's on the Spurs with Tim Duncan and Tony Parker. On the ROckets, I don't think he'll be as effective as T-mac.
Absolutely, and we beat them by double digits, we had like a record for most consecutive double digit wins or something right? Stop undermining what the Rockets did, and like Basem said, ungrateful fans are the problem. I could write a mile long list for why you want to trade 6th MAN, to the 2nd BEST SG in the leauge. Did you just not hear the announcers? They want to rest ginobili and watch his minutes so he doesn't get fatigued. Ginobili at his best<30 min
Also, sorry that post wasn't only directed at you i actually was in 100% agreement with what you said
You are wrong Dude, this team without T-Mac is a lottery team, plan and simple. The record speaks for its self. T-Mac effects this team the same way Hakeem did in the 90's. He is not vocal by a long stretch, but he does it with his play. By the way, do you watch the games????
NO without David West Dallas without Dirk Nowitzki LAL without Gasol The best team we beat was the denver nuggets. And I believe that they were the only team to get swept out of the playoffs.
So for a brief while, we were able to consistently beat inferior teams. Is that something to be proud of? At the very best, he's #3. And the next 5 after him are pretty close. However, theres a decently sized gap between Kobe and Lebron, and theres probably the same disparity between Lebron and Tmac. Popovich wants Ginobili to be rested. Whats wrong with that? When he's on the court, he's one of the most intense players in the game. He always gives 100% Unlike some other players.
Lebron is a SF, not a SG, get your **** straight. 1. Kobe 2. TMAC 3. B. ROY 4. Ginobili Popavich wants ginobili to be rested and whats wrong with that? Nothing actually but i can tell you that you trashing T-MAC for his 4th qtr disappearances the first 2 games when he pretty much had to do everything and play the entire game is wrong. So technically Ginobili will only be effective here too if he gets the 6th man minutes as well? So what, we are trading our star for a 6th man now? Ginobili playoff avg 16ppg on .45 FG% with the best PF to ever play the game and the fastest PG in the league. Also take into account that NOBODY throws 3 waves of defenders such as Harpring, Brewer, and Kirilenko at him EVERY game. T-MAC 29 ppg (28.5 actually) .43FG% There is a sky high difference between Tracy and Manu's passing so I don't get how Manu could make the people around him better like that. Tracy is almost ALWAYS the focal point of the opposing team's defense and has to score on waves of defenders , double teams ...etc that Manu would go scoreless in doing. The only thing Manu would do better is shoot FTs and 3s, actually not really 3s because other teams would shut him down in an instant. This argument is out of question, no way is Manu's level close to Tracy's. To show that I'm not being completely one sided in my argument since Tracy is injured a lot, i would trade him for B. Roy since Kobe is almost unattainable.
Lebron and Tmac both run the offense. Call it what you like, but they play the same position. First of all, Tmac doesnt contribute much on the defensive end. Secondly, all players play better when they're rested. The spurs have the luxury of resting him. You cant hold it against ginobili. Third, if tmac is going to take 20 million of our salary cap, then I have every right to hold it against him when he disappears. Illogical assumption. We know he's effective playing around 30 minutes a game. No one knows how much of a drop off there will be if he plays 35-40. Also, keep in mind that he wouldnt have to work so hard on defense if he were with the rockets. Furthermore, he'd be a starter on almost any other team. Are you implying that Duncan is in his prime right now? If not, your point is irrelevant. And Ginobili doesnt spend all his playing time playing at the same time as duncan/parker. And a pg's ability is not solely dependent on his speed. So who guards him when they play the Jazz? Please explain this "sky high" difference that you perceive. Funny how you have the word "always" in all caps yet its quantified by the word "almost" which is in lower case. Tmac doesnt get double teamed that much. And to say that Manu would go scoreless is sheer idiocy. The problem is that you're overrating Tmac and underrating Manu. You're actually trying to argue against statistics. Good luck. Too bad theres no way that portland would make that trade.
If you want to play this game, then Atlanta was without Bibby and we played Cleveland before the major trade. The Rockets also crushed all of those teams that I listed without Yao...not just squeekers. And LA without Gasol, NO without West, and Denver are all better than that Cleveland team. Point is- don't hate on what the Rockets did without Yao, it was amazing.
Basically all you did was take the facts i threw at you, throw them back at me twisted with your own opinion/view on things, and try to correct my grammar a little bit. Know what? Go become and english teacher and WATCH the games between the players your comparing a little more. Do you know how many time i hear "Ginobili open for 3!" a game? Or open for any shot of that matter? Haha, where was he today? Or a matter of fact every game besides the one he scored 30 in? Guess what Tracy averaged 28 vs t he jazz, and who did Ginobili have guarding him? Dude please just stop, your embarrassing yourself. If i knew i how to cut part of those quotes and reply to them like you did to me...boy..o boy
1. The Spurs didn't make the Finals this season. What are the main reasons? Henry Abbott, TrueHoop: Manu Ginobili's inconsistent play, which is undoubtedly related to fatigue and injury, and some bad timing in which the Spurs' normally excellent role players -- Robert Horry, Michael Finley, Bruce Bowen, Brent Barry -- took turns being really, really cold when it mattered. Also, the Lakers are an excellent team. With Manu worse than 100 percent and the other role players showing their age, they weren't quite good enough this time around. 2. How much longer do you expect the Spurs' big three to play at a high level? Abbott: At least three years. John Hollinger will tell you big men last longer, and Tim Duncan is in perfectly good shape as far as I can tell. He's 32 and he'll be elite for at least three more years, I'd assume. Ginobili is the biggest worry: He's injury prone and a wing who has to be athletic to be most effective. But he's turning only 31 this summer. Plus, he can shoot and he has plenty of size for his position, so he'll age better than most. And Parker is a baby. Adande: If these playoffs are any indication, the Spurs will be down to a Big 2½ in the next couple of years. Duncan is still capable of putting up big numbers and his game isn't based on athleticism, so age won't affect him the way it did, say, Shaquille O'Neal. Tony Parker just turned 26 and is as fast as ever. But the accumulated wear and tear of all those extra playoff games, plus international competition, appears to be catching up to Ginobili -- especially on defense, where he no longer is the roving X factor he used to be. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/playoffs2008/news/story?page=Roundtable-Spurs-080529
I dont think Atlanta is regarded as a good team. At least not during the regular season. Cleveland wasnt that good before their trade either. I'm not hating on anything. I'm just being objective about it. We won 22 games in a row, but they were primarily against weak teams.
I know...which is what makes what they did after Yao went down so much more impressive. Someone discredited what they did without Yao because they won 12 of the 22 with the big man, but failed to realize that they had the tougher competition and statistically dominated their opponents more when Yao went down. Teams that we CRUSHED despite missing a 22/11 big man for nearly half the streak.
Actually, what I did was refute all your contentions. And if you want to get technical, I corrected your choice of words, not your grammar. He had a bad game. Regardless, he's a better shooter than Tmac. You said that Ginobili doesnt have Brewer, Kirilenko, or Harpring guarding him. So I asked who guards him when the spurs play the jazz. And you tell me to stop embarassing myself. Right.
