Jermaine is better than Tmac at this point, Jermaine's been very solid this season. Honestly, I don't even think the Houston Rockets would even have a choice of making this trade, because quite frankly I don't see why the Heat would want to take Tracy McGrady over Jermaine O'Neal. Jermaine is shooting more efficiently than he's ever shot in his entire career, he's honestly playing like arguably the best player on the Heat right now.

We have no choice in this trade.

If there's no other choice out there where we can get a big man, this is an okay trade for us..J O'neal would give us an additional inside presence which we lack and shot Blocking of course...we can't get a superstar but we can also go for younger ones but may also be injury prones like Kevin Martin or Deng...

As Long as we dont give up anything any player (B Cook is not a player) fine by me .. It's still too too early by febraury nothing more significant comes J O'Neal would be a nice trade ..

If we enter the playoffs with that mentality .. I rather gamble on the lotto ..

    Hell no.

I'm no McGrady fan, but there has to be better options.

That would be a very unimpressive trade. We need someone better in return for T-Mac.

I don't know if they've been talking about trading J. O'Neal for Mcgrady, but we all know Miami is interested
in T-Mac. I hope if we trade him, we trade him to Miami. I'm saying that because Miami is the only team
that has something of value in it for us to want. The Knicks don't have anything we'd want.

Yes, we should. This is the thing I don't understand with all those that want McGrady gone, they expect some sort of all star back. We'd have to take extra contracts on for Kevin Martin, and even that's speculating. I've even seen some mention, if that deal were to happen, we wouldn't have much flexibility in the off-season, but what honestly would be we be jeapordizing.

We're not going to get Chris Paul, or some superstar. I still stand by the Bulls being the best trade partner, but what I don't understand is,

why would the Heat trade Jermaine for McGrady? It doesn't save them anymore money, and JO serves a bigger role for them. QRich is playing well, Dorrell Wright is coming around, and considering they have Haslem, you see Beasley at the SF position too. It's not the strongest, but it's certainly not a weakness. They'd have to resort to starting Haslem at C, which wouldn't work, and no depth behind that, to improve a position that's a less of a need.

He could potentially do more than Jermaine, but he wouldn't serve as much a need to the Heat, than JO would. So even I think this trade is unrealistic. The trade that might work for them is QRich and Haslem/fillers. But then what's the point of that, when the best player in the piece wouldn't play behind either Scola or Landry (unless he plays C, behind/infront of Hayes).

But honestly, those are the type of deals I'd expect.

I'd take him. He gives the same cap relief at season's end and he actually fills a few needs this team has right now. He would be of particular use against the Dwight Howards of the league and the Lakers front line.

He's not my first choice and he is more of a band-aid but if the goal really is to win as much as possible THIS season he makes much more sense than keeping McGrady.

DD, give me an example of some long term deals for a player that we would want? I have thought about teams that may be in a rebuilding phase and a player they may want to move and I can't think of anyone I would want. Til the Hawks are ready to move Joe Johnson, I aint moving McGrady for a player without an expiring deal.

I'd do the deal for O'Neal and take advantage of his expiring deal and use him as a center for 20 minutes a night. I just can't see it gets much better.

Please read my post before posting again.

The reality is the Heat would not trade Jermaine O'Neal for T-Mac. This season, Jermaine has shown more signs of returning to his prime days than Tmac. I doubt either one will return to their prime days or be an All-Star Caliber player, but O'Neal is a lot closer. Just go look at his FG%, 55%, that's the highest he's ever shot IN HIS CAREER IN THE NBA. I would do this trade, but I know this option isn't available so move along.

You're missing the picture, we don't need long term help from a big. We need a long term SG or SF top level talent. Even if Yao never plays again we have a good enough PF combination that a servicealbe C and matched with our current roster and a top level 2/3 will have us in contention. Obviously, it's all the better with Yao.

I might do it just because he is better than DA at playing the 5 spot.

But aside from that, I'd wait.

Just a good wish. I don't think Miami is willing to do that.

I'm not quite sure why people are so interested in trading McGrady for a player who has 1 or more years left on their contract. I think we should let McGrady play about 10 to 15 mins per game without disrupting the team chemistry, let him be the team player that he says he is, and then let him go in free agency. The 2010 free agent market could bring us Chris Bosh or any other number of players, I'm sure there are players who are willing to play for Adelman; look at the way we have started the season without our 2 best players. Why take on some more old guys with big contracts? Thankfully, Darryl Morey is running the team and does make very good decisions regarding players as the evidence shows with Landry and Scola. Good theme here is patience!

McGrady has his Florida move-in options in line already. He said his cousin Vince will let him rent out the guest room at his place. The children will still have a good life in the Houston area.
