You're right....Camby was better than him coming out. Davis has A LOT of work to do in order to continue his success at the NBA level. His offensive game is nothing and he is going to get bullied down low. That said he has a good future ahead of him.

Yea right. And it was not obvious that LBJ was the most dominant physical NBA talent since Wilt? Davis isn't even close to those two and it was obvious well before the draft. Where are you coming from? Please explain - I am always quick to admit my mistakes.

One I can think of for sure was Jerry Lucas (#2 overall) and John Havilicek (#7 overall) in the 1962 draft out of Ohio State. Not only were they both All-Stars but they both ended up in the Hall of Fame.

I didn't check but I'd imagine that the Wooden Dynasty UCLA teams had to produce two all-stars from one draft too.

Did you see Marcus Camby play at UMass? He was national player of the year.

OK I will make you a $10 k bet deposited at a reputable law firm of your choice that LBJ will have 2x the number of all star selections as Davis.

Im talking about NBA GM's making a decison based on his body of work, not his physical stature. Im not sure if you want me to spend my time listing his accomplishments this year so far as a freshman but I will ablige if you so wish.

So im supposed to pay up when???... 2030?? When both players have finally retired??? Great bet buddy. Sure Ill take you up on it.

If your talking about next year, obviously Lebron will win more all-star votes. I never said Lebron isn't the higher valued player NOW. Obviously you didnt read what I said earlier when I did say "COMING OUT OF THE DRAFT AT THEIR RESPECTIVE TIMES."

I going to assume that you never saw Camby at UMass so I'll explain. Comparing a college player to Marcus Camby at UMass is a compliment. He was a beast.

Camby just never developed his offensive game but he was/is still an elite shot blocker and rebounder in the NBA and even won a Defensive player of the year award. Camby, Jabbar and Eaton are the only players to ever lead the NBA in blocked shots 4 times.

Four weeks ago I would have admitted the similarities but even in that short period of time, his offensive game is just exploding. His shooting touch is very very good, and he finally has the confidence to start creating shots for himself rather than just defer to his teamates. He has shown that he isnt just a great shot blocker/rebounder. He has a complete game, and is developing incredibly fast against good competition.

I LOVED Camby back in the day when he was in college and when he was in the NBA his first few season. I still love Camby. Its not just me here. Yesterday Fran Fraschilla and Mike Patrick started laughing out of their seats when the CBS host compared Davis to Camby.

No I don't. Rockets season ticket holder in 88 and 89 then moved to the BB hell of western NY. Jobs - hey they suck. After that great championship series between NY and the Rockets could never ever root for NY. But a Rockets fan am I.

If you were that old you probably wouldnt be up this late on a week night and you probably wouldn't even know what "trolling" meant. You might call yourself a Rockets fan in your spare time but your a long way away from telling the truth.

If Drexler waited a year, he and Olajuwon would come out the same year and they would have been two all stars and HOFers from the same school.

No idea what you are talking about. Did you not read my post saying that I was retired??? No where to go tomorrow - not true since I have to go and do some errands - but Wednesday would be good enough.

Could make a lot of snide remarks about money and chicks and what I get and what being able to fly the family to Belize or Costa Rica means. I do hope you and all of the BBS members get there someday. GL all you Rockets fans.

And rereading this post it looks to me like I am being completely ****y. Apologies in advance. I will never ever do this again.

    Please forgive me.

Correct. There are a few teamates like that who came out in consecutive years. (Mutumbo and Mourning are another example).

In addition to Lucas/Havilicek the others I came up with are:

    Indiana 1965 - Tom Van Arsdale (#10) / Dick Van Asdale (#11)

    UCLA 1971 - Sydney Wicks (#2)/ Curtis Rowe (#11)

    UCLA 1974 - Bill Walton (#1) / Keith (Jamaal) Wilks (#11).

North Carolina 1998 - Antawn Jamison (#4)/ Vince Carter (#5)

    UCLA 2008 - Russell Westbrook (#4) / Kevin Love (#5).

Looking through some past drafts there are lots of cases where teammates both go in the first round and are both good NBA players. It's having both of them make the all-star game that it the tough part. A good example of that is Jordan/Perkins from the legendary '84 draft. Perkins was very good for a long time but he never made an all-star game.

Camby pretty much singlehandedly led UMass to an Elite 8 and then a Final Four and was player of the year. No one should really be laughing at that comparison.

Davis has been really great for a freshman, but lauding his accomplishments when his talent-laden team loses to an unranked Vandy seems a bit silly. He's got a future as a star in this league, but he's got some work to do.

I'm not trying to disparage Davis, but LeBron would be the #1 pick in any draft in the last 30 years or so. Saying he wouldn't because of what Davis has shown this year is laughable -- Davis' freshman campaign has been great, but it pales in comparison to Melo leading his team to a title, or even Durant's player of the year campaign.

Duncan was pretty highly regarded coming out as well.
