During one of the Rockets games late last season versus Denver, the Nuggets announcers made the definitive statement on trading for Camby - during his entire time in the NBA, he has never managed to play in more than 18 consecutively scheduled games. Just say no!
Well Taylor did look pretty good before his injury. Not Webber or Malone like, but still one of the better PF in the league.
Taylor never looked like one of the better power forwards in the league. Never. His contract is still one of the most puzzling moves of all-time. Any possible way to get out from his contract should be pursued. He's a decent enough guy as a backup, but that contract is atrocious.
You people sure forget quick. Taylor was a huge part of that 45 win season two years ago. Taylor had a great shot from 15 feet, as good as any PF in the league. He had nice post moves, his only weakness was rebounding. Taylor lost alot of his quickness after his injury.
Or maybe you've just glossed him over. He was considered a failure in college, a failure with the Clipps and a ... I'm familiar with him before he ever got to the Rockets and I'm familiar with him when he was on the Rockets. At his best, he was middle of the road.
Heck, NO! Mo Taylor is a better offensive weapon and, with JVG teaching him defense, he is going to be solid...very solid....rather than brittle ...very brittle...like Camby.
I guess it had nothing to do with Hakeem great stretch during their run in 01. I guess Taylor really helped out against the west when we always got our asses wipped at the 4 spot. The 45 win season was a good season, butno where was it deserving of a 8mill a yr contract from a career underachiever.
Yes!!! Although I do think that MoT has a better mid-range shot than Cambyman, I would do this trade because Camby can be one of the best defensive players in the league if he stays healthy. He is actually pretty good offensively around the basket and he moves well without the ball. He is also a very emotional player who can really pump up the team. I would be thrilled if Van Gundy managed to bring him to Houston, although I doubt that the Nuggets would part with him without getting a lot in return. He was playing well for them at the end of this last season. Plus, his contract expires sooner, so if we don't want him, he'll be easier to trade than MoT.
